Petrol in diesel

Here's a funny story for you guys... My brother in law runs a VW Sharon and has no mechanical prowess at all... We were having a conversation over Christmas that I have had a steady stream on cars in the workshop where the owners are putting petrol in diesel cars... I was telling him the story that if you do it in a FFRR then landrover want XXX thousands on pounds from you to change the whole fuel system or your warranty is void...

So end of last week I'm with a customer for a couple of hours and when I finally check my phone there are tons of missed calls from both my wife and brother in law... I ring to here my BIL has gone into tesco and started filling his Sharon with petrol, remembering what I said he would not put the keys in the ignition to even let the staff push him off the pump, in fear of the fuel pump getting triggered... So there he sat stonney faced for nearly 3hrs waiting...

He told me how stupid he was and how his wife will go nuts (oh and she did... Boy did she) but most importantly he remembered NOT to but the ignition on... So I was running around the garage collecting up 25ltr drums, elec pumps, jump packs, easy start etc etc etc, hitching up the trailer and just getting into the Disco and asked him (so I know I have enough containers with me)

"so, go on tell me? How much did you get in before you realised?" he answered "oh um 58 pence!"

Ha ha!!! Classic!!

I reckon in a modern diesel you could get away with a 10% mix just once but not much more. Idi diesels are a different matter though Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I put 20l in a van once. Embarassed topped the tank with diesel and it was fine. it was running on about 25% petrol. Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)
