Residuals

I would love to know what sort of finance deals people are getting on the L405? What are you putting down, what's the monthly and what's the R.V?

dealer quoted me the following in Dec: 12k/yr 3 yr
V6 Vogue SE few extra £87.7k, deposit 15k, 1493/mo, RV 31,300
V8 Vogue SE few extra £94.5k, deposit 15k, 1685/mo, RV 32,200
I found interesting it the V6 had the same RV than the V8 after 3 yrs...
In any case, compared to the current finance deals by competitors, these ran very high...

When I was in the dealer buying my L322, the dealer took a call regarding an order for an L405 he ended the call telling the customer on the phone that it woud be 2500 a month. Crazy.

Apparently he'd specced it up and had put his car down as a payment. Either way madness for the release of a new car. What could possibly go wrong!

Interesting to see if insuarance firms treat the glass roof as covered by windscreen excess. They didn't on my mates Evoque.

residuals look totally carp !
loosing over 60K in 3 years, balls to that Big Cry

I thought the L322 depreciation was bad enough Laughing

Surely the only time you'd want to finance it is simply through a business if the company owns it. Come the end of the day borrowed money at those rates + huge depreciation = make yourself poor quickly.

The value they state after three years is always low.
This is for two reasons.

1. The car should be worth a bit more, so when you hand it back you have some deposit towards your next one. This way they can comtinue the cycle and you end up with a car on finance or a PCP type deal (which has higher charges = more finance company profit) for the rest of time.

2. It also covers them if the market crashes, like it did in 2008 when you could buy a three year old one for £22-24k from a main dealer. (as I did)

If they are looking at a future value of around 32k on a PCP it'll probably be nearer 40k.
Depreciation of something like £1,400 per month.

But what does interest me is theat the better engine will lose more money. Which actually makes sense as running costs for cars are always going up and the higher fuel use and road tax will make it less attractive when older. Even though it's a better car.

It seems that buying the 8cyl diesel instead of the 6cyl means you'll be losing an extra $40 or so per week.
But hey, if you can afford an 80k or 90k car (or are happy to pay ££££ per month to make it look like you can afford it) then I doubt it's a big concern.

Two dealers and one person at LJ all said the same they do not expect the V6 to hold that well to quote "the V6 went in the car to help overall emission regs as will the hybrid on the whole range and is not expected and by current sales orders is not going to be that popular" hence they do not see nor do the finance companies see the small engine cars to hold values that well.I think the lack the Adaptive Dynamics and combined Dynamic Response system will not help the 3.0 have driven both, the SDv8 is by far the better ride esp when you push on with it.

This really follows the other makes of large suv in the market and confirms why the SDV8 is going back in the sport.

I think you will see the normal 45 to 50% over 3 years max as its a new model , which falls inb line with all heavy metal , Porsche , BMW , etc etc. Far to many gone...

As above, If you can afford the car after 2-4yrs of it coming out then most will be wanting the SDV8 so i'd say its residuals will end up stronger than the SDV6 and as a possible future owner i'd rather have the V8 as well for the small amount of extra money.

Dont get me wrong the SDV6 is good but with the 8speed box as i've said on the disco forum, its put me off it bigtime in the MY12 D4.

If you think the PCP and finance rates are scarey there are business's that rent them from others and they are double that monthly amount Rolling Eyes FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Overall I do believe the 6cyl will hold it's value better than the 8cyl in real terms though, even if it's not as close as the example above suggests.
It's about £7k cheaper, so when it's three years old there will not be a £7k gap between the two.

When they are 2nd hand you will find plenty of people wanting a "New" Range Rover on the drive and the 6cyl fits the bill well at a lower cost. There are lot of people out there that are not interested enough to join forums like this one, they just want a late model Range Rover and this will keep the used prices up. They probably don't give a monkeys about adaptive dynamics. It'll probably just be used to drop children to school and make Mum feel like she is "propper posh like".
