Upgrading 02' HSE stereo to aftermarket Sat Nav

Hi all
New here- been scouting around LandyZone for quite a while and thought it was time to get involved here!
My question is- I have an 02 td6 HSE which has the ugly non- sat nav stereo in situ. I have seen on previous threads here that some of you have upgraded to an aftermarket sat nav, DVD, stereo, and bluetooth unit for a good price. Pretlove did an article on it some time ago, but i fear he has since left the brotherhood of the full fats Sad
Has anyone got any experience of installing these units or any advice- I think I would then fit the trip computer system from the old stereo into the glove box to maintain the correct time on analogue clock and enable me to reset trip computer functions etc.
Seen this one- anyone got any opinions?

Look for one with the DVB-T on it as well! See this thread:

Thanks for the link. Yes the digital TV one would be cool! How would the installation be different to the one carried out on on Pretlove's RR? Would I have to place a receiver/arial anywhere?
Can I ask if you have upgraded yours? 2002 L322 td6

Here's the item no (150981491621) for the one mentioned that's still running, Iv also got a hse so looking for a unit like this, anybody fitted one of these? I know people were using the dynavin (and dynavin copies) over on e46zone and they have had good results, I wouldnt expect kenwood/alpine performance but would be excellent if I could use my iPhone in the ff

Yes Durham. TBH for the money its not really a big gamble really. Digital TV, Sta Nav, aux in capability, bluetooth and ipod docking- all for a shade over £300.00.
The bit I am a bit confused about is how to reconnect the trimmed down trip computer from the old stereo and fit it into the glovebox. Pretlove did this- but I want to make sure that it is possible first! 2002 L322 td6

I think that is the one- The only think I am iffy about is the Digital TV set up and a more in depth guide showing how to wire up the trip computer/where to cut it down etc. As these are the only points which are slightly overlooked. I am definitely interested though, especially as my mate has just lost my Sat Nav! 2002 L322 td6

That's an excellent write up, I think it will become clear once fitting it, I think the only bit that needs trimming is the plastic part that holds the mid in place so that when you fit your new unit into it, it sits flush. When you ordering ? Smile

Spanner, that looks like a nice piece of kit. Can I ask which version it is and model, and does it have Digital TV on that version? Also did you put the old trip computer back in the glovebox?
Oh and how much did it set you back?
Durham- I'm not ready yet- just considering the options before I rush in! But if you are keen to order maybe we could get a deal on buying two?! 2002 L322 td6

was there any splicing of wire needed to get the trip computer to connect- in another thread Pretlove takes a blue wire and connects it to a purple one- did you have to do similar. Also, do you need to cite the digital TV reciever?
Thanks for the help 2002 L322 td6

Oh, he says in the other post something about needing to splice two wires together to get the buttons to illuminate or something. 2002 L322 td6
