question is what's the reserve price, has it been properly and timely serviced... then an on site inspection and test is mandatory
ps:always frightening to see that people don't take the action to replace the steering wheel when in such a condition. what does it mean for what's not seen by the driver 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

OK, it's not huge mileage if it's been serviced properly, for a diesel engine anyway.

But, the thing is, that is a lot more than the design life of the car. Everything else has also done those miles including Suspension, bearings, driveshaft joints, engine ancillaries like the PAS pump and so on. It's all done it!!

I have run cars well beyond that number but truly, the vast majority of them need constant work and bits replaced once they hit 150k. That price really is top whack for my money, I'd really want it for about 2/3rds of that.

What "could" be coming up? Think about it for a minute. Let's add it up. (including fitting)
4 Shock absorbers. £1k
Suspension bushes all round. Same again.
An airbag or two. A monkey.
PAS pump?
LP or HP fuel pumps?
Turbocharger?
Air-con pump

Just keep thinking about what's done all that work.....would have to be a brave man to take it on without knowing the history very intimately. And more to teh point, buying it would effectively make you the final owner. The only place that's going if you want rid is the block.

While we are at it, what about my car that I got for €12,400 and that has 95,000 miles on the counter, with half complete service history.
Turbo was changed and in 2008, and compressor & co last year.
Engine & gear box drive well. So besides the little annoyances, I've had (and still have for electric problems), no issue. 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

To be honest what would put me off IS the history! Service interval on a td6 is too long Smile 5-8k for mine or every 6 months and the air filter sometimes doesn't last even that before I swap it out!!

The other bits can be ok but would need checking. I've seen cars with a lot less mileage with wasted suspension from short journeys and sitting long periods. Each point on the scale had its merits IMO Smile

Ps I'm only 41k off its mileage as well so will see what it goes for Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I think the price is far too high for that. Looking at the steering wheel alone isnt a good sign. Its a vehicle you would spend a lot of time inspecting and checking through things before parting with your money. If you could guarantee its been looked after (eg you know the car) then thats a different story.

That's what I figured with mine. It's done 100k and I certainly feel it's got another 50k in it before it starts becoming a basket case. Given my current mileage that's about 5 years motoring by which time I'll have had it 8 years and even if I get nothing for it, it will have cost me about £2500 in depreciation per year, which in Range Rover world is peanuts.

I wouldn't like to buy it for much money at the end of all that though.

It was just for discussion, Chaps . . . .
Personally, I'm not put off my mileage - so long as it's been maintained correctly.
Can you imagine the servicing costs that it's racked up at LR dealers . . . . crikey Shocked

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I would rather have a car with a lot of motorway miles than a low miler driven by Miss daisy thats sat in traffic all its life, things like alternators etc dont wear out in mileage, they wear out in hours of usage, engines most wear is on start up, I think theres a Lister diesel ditch pump somewhere that has run for over 100 years and never been turned off. Theres also a village in Russia somewhere that gets so cold they have a couple of lorries that run from autumn till spring without turning off, they prob do a mile a week but how much wear is there on the alt, PAS pump etc. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
