I think people, well not ''people'' but the enthusiasts, buy a Range Rover because it is a Range Rover.
Spencer King did in fact do something special, as there is something about the car which can not be explained, and it's that, call it x factor, that makes people like us love it so much.

He did the car so well, that as JC once put in the top gear tv first test, it looks good in the city but even better in the countryside.

And the above fact of matter is exactly what defines a RR. It's the true full go anywhere car. it looks good and is a proper car for every situation you can throw at it. Beach, parties, off road, travel, city, skiing, monte carlo, mafia, etc etc.

The thing that the other manufacturers can't do is exactly that. You will not take the EXP9FI8G64F Bentley to some surf trip. Everybody will look at you. Not comfortable. Go to the shopping center, once again, not very good being looked at.

With the RR, you give out good messages, but at the same time, being discreet.

Good car yes, discreet no.

They might not be discreet but there are other cars to buy if you want to show off.
Let's say you stand out from the crowd in a Range Rover but in a dignified way.

So I went for a test rdrive today in the TDV6 (as that's what I'd buy) although I was told it was a Vogue and looking in the brochure afterwards it was a Vogue SE... it seems the Vogue can't have the executive two rears seats that this had.

Have to say I was impressed by the driving experience, interior space and performance for the smallest engine in the range.

But there are two things I am struggling with.

One is the looks.
It's a bit bland, Evoques are everywhere and this is less distinctive so it looks like just another Range Rover.
Maybe it'll look better when we start to get more familiar with them and see a few aboout.

Two, the touchscreen.
How can I put this, the quality/resolution is terrible. It looks like a cheaap screen from 10 years ago.
I have a 2012 Skoda and a 2011 Nissan and they both have far better quaity screens that look better and have superior definition. Which is bad when so many of the controls are accessed through it.
It also makes more work.
In either of my other cars (and my old 2008 FFRR) to turn on the heated seat you push a button, but now you have to push a button and then find the correct place on the cheapo touchscreen to press again to do the same job.
So we drive off and the seat gets hot. We are moving and I need to turn it off. Now I can't find the button by feel so after pressing the seat hard button i have to take my eyes off the road and look at the cheapo screen (again) to see where I have to press to stop it roasting my family jewels.

My problem is this.
I like buttons, you can find them without loooking once you know the car.
With everything being twice as much work and havinng to use the screen it makes everything a faff and you are constantly being reminded that your Skoda has a far better quaity screen that's nicer to look at and has a better resolution.
What has removing the buttons achieved other than doubling the workload?
An empty space so you get a bit more blank trim.

Did Imention the resolution and quality of the screen?
It's dreadful, far worse than the screen behind the steering wheel, which is good and shows how bad the dash one is.

Land Rover, this car is over £70k. Fit a decent screen to the next one!
Skoda/SEAT/Nissan are selling cars under £20k with full touchscreens way better than this!!!
