I was on the Autobahn here in Germany today and received the message "Tyre pressure too low for speed" while doing about 200kph. I don't usually drive that fast, even where allowed, but conditions were good and traffic was light...

It was the first time I've seen this message and was wondering if anyone else has experienced it. I've had my winter tyres on since October and they are in good condition and are certified to 240kph, not that I'd ever test that. When cruising at 140kph I don't get the warning and I think I'll stick to that speed until I get a chance to check the pressures. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

130 MPH is VERY fast for a Range Rover bearing in mind how high off the road it is but I guess it is designed to do it. Not for me.

the manual does recommend that tyre pressures are increased for heavy loads and high speed so your range must have put the two criteria together and bonged up a warning.. ... - .- -.

Mine never went off at 120mph, maybe the rain kept the tyres cooler?

In Germny most Autobahns are two lane and many have no speed limit. This means one lane with commercial traffic may be travelling at 80kph and in the other cars may pass at 200kph +....

This has always struck me as a recipe for disaster, especially when overtaking slow commercial traffic, however it seems to work as I travel on these road quite frequently and rarely see an accident.

I think the main reason that traffic on the Autobahn is quite safe is because most German drivers are very disciplined and stick to the rules. It also makes Germany a very nice place to drive as the other road users do what you would expect them to do.

Maybe Angel and the other German residents can give us some more on the changes of that behaviour over the years but the above is my impression when I still lived in Cloggieland and did get to Germany quite a bit. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

drove to cologne back in december and tbh didn't know which was the un-restricted bits in germany, but 80/90 mph was a comfortable speed...
german drivers might be pretty good but its the belgiums and east europeans that dont know how to drive.. ... - .- -.

+1 for the terrible standard of Belgian driving - from one who lives there. In some sort of defence there are so many ex-pats living here you don't actually know with nationality is driving.
Strangely the Belgians did vote themselves the safest & best drivers in Europe.

I drive through Belgium on the way to Austria and am always amazed by the poor driving especially on the motorways but the road to Germany/Austria are brilliant plus you pass the Spa Circuit in a very pretty area...

The Belgians are good at many things: beer, food, chocolate, corruption but driving is nowhere near there. They are worse drivers than the Dutch (Dutch are extremely selfish drivers who own the piece of road they are on and nobody is allowed to pass them, also they are very "righteous" and think they can take the law into their own hands) IMHO. And I don't like Dutch drivers to say the least.

I prefer the Germans as drivers from all the various countries I have been to (and that is quite a list), although the Swedes aren't bad either.

Sat for an hour or so at 130+mph and no problem at all with tyres (although there was quite a lot of heat when we stopped). Felt like the engine would go faster but the limiter kicked in.  *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

interestingly the Germans used to have the highest number of road accident fatalities per head of population for a long while in the past, probably because when things DID go wrong, it was at a higher speed with correspondingly more serious results!

Now it's Greece and Poland!
