front scuttle

hi, i need to remove my front scuttle/window wiper trim, it looks like it has been cleaned with a solvent in the past and has now gone very discoloured, i all so want to re-paint the silver vent trim on the bonnet that the washes are mounted in...
has any one got a good colour match for the silver, any advice for removal of either will be great, it looks pretty easy but its the silly things like, hidden screws or one of the wipers has a left hand thread ect,you now what i mean.

If you mean the standard finish Brunel Grey trim colour (same as door handles and bonnet vents etc.) then Halfords offer an instore paint mixing service which I have used before with great results.

From memory, I think it is referred to on their computer database as Land Rover = Brunel Grey Chrome Matt - it takes about 10mins for them to mix up and costs approx 12 for standard size aerosol / spray can.

I needed it to touch up some scuff marks on the grey trim of my side steps and could not notice any difference between the factory finish and my own handywork.

Apply/spray a few light coats of Plastic Primer first - once dry, lightly spray several coats of the Brunel Grey at 30min intervals, slowly building up an even Matt finish (don't worry about the darker spots which appear when paint first touches surface - being metallic paint, these disappear as the paint dries)

Hope this helps Thumbs Up

Now that's a nugget piece of info!

I needed Brunel spray a few months back but dealers couldn't help and no one seemed able to source it.

The Halfords paint code for Brunel Grey is...

BLVC LBO

Paint Colour Description - (LRVO) Brunel Grey Silver Chrome Matt

It is in the list of paints for Rover cars and is the only colour listed with Brunel in the title.

Hope you have better luck this time Thumbs Up

If you don't mind I am going to steal that and post as a sticky, it's very useful to know, especially as Dealer can't supply it.

A 'sticky' is a topic which is automatically kept at the top of the forum so people can see it instead of it disappearing a few pages back. 2006 Mercedes CLS
