Air Susp Inactive

Hi folks,

I've searched throught the forums for similar problems of which there is plenty. Just looking for a response from people with first hand experience...

Just recieved the air sus inactive message. The car is handling very poorly. and the brakes are going into abs mode with only moderate pedal pressure.

Other symptoms include car in access height (low as it goes) no lights at suspension switch on dash, and most importantly, as I was driving there was rattling and knocking from the front passanger corner. I stopped and gave the air bag a poke, and its as soft as proverbial Censored , where as the other corner is rock hard. I never checked the rears as i'd have to get on the deck in the dark wet weather but i know they sould be hard too.

Before I go ahead and buy a new airbag is there anything else i should look for and will the fault clear itself in time after replacement or do i need a computer of some description to reset it?

Thanks in advance for any help recieved.

Just looked at a post from last week, seems I could check the airline going to the air strut as well, just to be sure before I opt to order a new bag to replace the old bag. Rolling with laughter MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

Diagnostics will clear the hard fault on the Air Suspension (All Comms/IIDtool etc). You should then get a loud hiss from the offending airbag.

Aside from buying an airbag (Island 4x4 for best price), buy another one and do both sides at the same time Thumbs Up

Apparently it only takes 20 minutes a side to replace them Wink .

I wonder if one of the smart phone OBD11 apps would work to fettle the fault? Due to lack of diagnostics I think ill end up doing a visual insp, then just getting a replacent bag and hope for the best ! MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

I've got the RAC Allcoms diagnostics if it's of any use.

When I had my problem with the airline the other week, I had the faulty suspension message. My battery also went flat. When I recharged it and started the car, I had to do the steering wheel left/right reset and all the faults cleared and the compressor started. Hopefully yours will as well... Thumbs Up Previously..

Well I changed the leaky bag and had to get the hard fault (no lights on EAS control in dash) cleared at a garage (thanks for the offer nice day for it, but needed to get it done ASAP due to the car riding on the bumps stops and behaving terribly),

Low and behold In Offroad height the other side (driver) front bag is leaking too Big Cry

What was it you said Joe90? do both of them at once ?! ha ha, how very right you were Rolling with laughter

Looks like island 4x4 will be getting another order from me soon MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

How unlucky is that for two to go at the same time Big Cry .

The first thought that went throught my head was " I bet they have stuck a bradawl through it " when the garage cleared the fault , but the more I've thought about it , its most probably the fact that they are original from 2002, so they have lasted a good time .

It must be my mistrust of garages. MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand
