United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black
Some advice on my plan

Bit of feedback from you fellow FF nuts. I am coming up with plan B because plan A isn't going to work!

Original plan was to keep my 2008 TDV8 for a couple of years then upgrade to a facelift model (59plate? when did they come in?) However for work reasons I've suddenly started doing about 40k miles per year. That's going to wreck the Rangies value so am going to get a cheap runabout to take up about 3/4 of those miles annually.

I was going to keep the FF but I'm thinking of selling it, sticking the money to one side and waiting for the 59 plate to drop into a price range I'm comfortable with. This is partly prompted by wondering about the impact on values on that age car by the new model launch. So the questions....

Could anyone give me their idea of value on my car. 2008/08 Vogue, 85k miles, nothing particularly unusual, black with ivory/piano black interior. Very tidy car. I was thinking low 20's looking at Autotrader. 21-22k. Seem about right?

Anyone got a view on how or whether the L405 will impact on cyrrent 59/60 plate values. I'm looking to buy one for about 28k which I'm guessing will be in about 12 months time. Again does that seem about right?

I know I'll miss the Rangie but I can't help thinking this is the sensible route. Lloyd Barnes

i think the value you have put on yours is about right Lloyd and it does make sense to wait until the 2009 models come down in price next year...that's kinda my plan as well, i want a 2008 but at the moment they are just that little to expensive for me so i'm waiting till the end of this year and hopefully they'll come down to my purchase level.. ... - .- -.

Brilliant, good I'm not going mad then!! (Yet). Thanks for the advice.

What's your take on the L405 coming out? Will 59/60 plates depreciate as per normal or will the new model depress them faster?

Or to put it another way, if 28k is my budget, how long will I be Range Roverless! Big Cry Very Happy Lloyd Barnes

Depreciation at this level should remain similar IMHO.

I think if the demand of the L405 outstrips supply and is forcibly controlled like the ecoque then the L322's at your age target should depreciate as normal like Gaz has said but the last of the line ones, think 61/12/62 plates will hold their value a bit longer.
Also thats going to be the 4.4TDV8 time period as well so if you got one like Mick with the older engine that should help keep the price down as a lot of people in that range will think what the heck to blowing another few grand on the bigger motor IMO.

What are you replacing it with if we may digress slightly?

Do you fancy a cheap golf GT TDi DSG at all?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Funny, similar thing happened to me. I bought it thinking I'd use it infrequently and then needed to commute, and the RR isn't a commuter car. So I bought my VX220 which can do 40mpg and is 'kin brilliant fun to drive.
