United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Orkney Grey
Is it worth it ?

I don't really plan on changing now since test driving, but is it really worth it ?

Current : 2011 (2012 Model) 4.4 TD Vogue SE - added options Rear DVD's, rear cooled recliners, dual view, privacy glass, side steps.

Value ???? if i'm lucky might get £50 - £55K on part exchange.

I doubt there's any great deals to be had at the moment and to get the same model as I have with the extra's the new one would be about £90,000, so leaving me a hefty £35 to £40,000 to pay.

Is it really worth it ? Big Cry

I've added poll as i'm bored Laughing

Hi Rolo, I bet you will make someone very happy when you sell yours as they get a really nice one at a lot lower price than a new one Smile I would not sell it yet, save your money for a while and get a really nice L405 Autobiography in 2 years time (someone else took the first depr. hit and more info about reliability/issues). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

It's never about best value, or no new cars would be sold.

The law of diminishing returns always applies but cars aren't objective purchases at this end of the market.

Rolo

I have had the same dilemma. My cars are bought by my company so really don't cost me any money, but i have the allowance to do what i want with.

i bought a RRS costing 60k and kept it for 2 years and lost 25k
So i bought my FFRR for 28k and if i look after it and only put another 25,000 miles on it (50,000 miles total) in the next 2 years it may be worth 18-20k.

So i will be able to get the new model in late 2014 for about 50k.
My problem is we have just had planning permission for an extension so i might have to wait another year Big Cry

So keep your car and save the money i think you will be quids in. Thumbs Up

if you don't have to worry about buying it then have it, you only live once.

+1 this.

I voted that I think it is worth it.

But I'd caveat that by saying 'if you have the money to burn and really want one'. /shrug MY2011 TDV8 Vogue - GONE

well, i'd go for it: try a vogue tdv6 instead of (presumably) an se tdv8, that would bring the price down... the l405 has the current 'want one' status so you'd more than likely recoup the £45k at next tradein...

dunno if this works... but around £22k doesn't sound as hard to swallow

edit* no it doesn't: but that spec on a vogue tdv6= £77k

I disagree, you will not recoup the extra £45k at trade in time.
It's called depreciation.

A new one is going to depreciate faster than a year old one at trade in value only worth £50k.
Do people really think a (trade value) 50k old shape car is going to lose money quicker than a new model fresh out the showroom at £80k. Shocked

To answer the OP...

No way, unless you must have the new fashionable shape and don't care about losing money so quickly.
Taking a £30k hit on a one year old car, then coming back for more is beyond my reasoning.

Well this all depends if the new RR is popular enough: look at the Evoque: two years on and you still won't find one for less than base price, due to the demand being managed: same thing is happening with new RR, with production dates already backing up... bit of a gamble though I suppose due to the figures involved: you have to wonder how many people have a spare 70/80k hidden away...

If it was me I wouldn't bother with the new one. Unless a dealer calls you up and says I have someone who will buy your car today and ill give you a big wedge off the new one its not worth it at all.

Your current one is of the best vintage to be honest wing near enough last of the line with all the tastey bits fitted means when resale comes if you go private instead of trade in you'll easily move it on but in 2years time or a year you will have lost another £10-20k on it I reckon Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
