Thrills, spills and a bit of a pre-chrismas prang - rambling

Can't even remember if I posted my 'news' on this before Christmas. But here goes:

So wife was in our 4.4tdv8 and had an argument with a lorry. She was ovetaking (he was parked) and he didn't see her and just pulled out and into her.

Passenger door mirrior and every passenger side panel done in (almost anyway). Some odd ecu/computer issues - reading -33 degrees temp and hill start assist failed too.

But awesome (expensive) Hiscox insurance took it way the next day to our local dealer (Marshalls Lincoln we buy from, their bodyshop is Melton - so off it went).

Replacement vechiles:

1) insurance firstly sent an Audi Q7. OMFG. Didn't get on with it at all. It feels enormous (I suspect it's less than 2cm longer than a FFRR in reality) - but then feels too low inside and like it has no room. I am sure it was the 3.0 diesel one. Adequate for collecting the christmas tree Smile

2) after calling insurance co. and shouting and balling like a spoilt child - they sent an almost identical FFRR. Normal service resumed Smile

3) clearly a richer, more spoilt and more shouty client called them and wanted a FFRR so they then called us asked if they could take it back. "What the sh*ddering f*ck are we getting as a replacement then?" says I. "You can have a brand new Porsche Cayenne?".....hmmmm.

So the Cayenne arrived. And driving it (very little actually over the last almost 2 weeks) has at least led to me promising to never slag them off anymore.

My observations:

a) it was the petrol S variant. Which really was quiet fun to drive
b) interior: felt quaity and well put together. more so than my FFRR. Even if I didn't like the layout
c) quite liked the panoramic roof...
d) it is SMALL. So would never work for me with 4 dogs....
e) it still looks vile
f) steering felt more 'direct'....but then it is a Porsche. Not 911 direct, but less vague than a FFRR
g) although quicker on paper than my 4.4 TDV8 - it felt like it had erm less 'ooomph'. but this is probably down to the smaller amount if torque? (if that's even the case?).

And to be fair...I think the thing is....they're so different it's very hard to make a sensible/meangingful comparisson between the two. Apples and Pears.

(looks aside) I can see why someone who hated FFRRs and needed less space would go for one....

Anyway....all that sprang to mind because the wife has just gone to pick up the FFRR. Can't wait.

And judging by her SMS messages she also seems to have accidently arrange a test drive in a L405 tomorrow (albeit the 3L one)....hmmmm.... MY2011 TDV8 Vogue - GONE

Fun as it is, it's still not 'fast'. Must still be over 10 secs 0-60?

Now if my euro lotto number come up tonight, i'd deffo get one of their proper V8 petrol ones. Must be an eye opener to drive Smile MY2011 TDV8 Vogue - GONE
