Hi everyone, in a couple of weeks me and the better half are going to that London. As its been about 30 years since i last went i would like some advice from you good people

going to get there about dinnertime on Friday the 18th until about dinnertime on sunday the 20th and need to be based around the Natural history museum area

Need to get hotel for friday night (sorted for saturday)

Any advice about taking my FFRR, where to stay/park and costs involved would be much appreciated

Take the train instead.

Use laterooms.com for a hotel.

There are loads of places to park, just don't expect it to be cheap! If you arrive before 1800 on Friday you will probably have to pay the congestion charge also.

Most hotels that I've stayed in London of late charge at least £30 per night for parking. Since I tend to go on the train, I'm not sure if you also need to pay congestion charge.

Personally, I'd go on the train. Taxis aren't cheap, but they take away the miserable experience that driving in London is! And there'a always the tube........... Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Would go in on the train but have got to take quite a bit of clobber so its not really an option . Forgot about the congestion charge . Another good reason why i havn't been there for years

As above, laterooms and you can blat in the postcode of the museum to help.

If your in london for those 3 days you need to pay it each day IIRC if you go into it.

Is the clobber for the nippers or peeps nearby as i'd be tempted to leave the FF just outside london and train in and tube about

Take a good BREATHABLE waterproof coat as it will help when your on the tube if you use it as its still a sweatbox down there when its -15'c above ground

Don't think that the congestion charge applies on Saturday and Sunday, but pretty sure it's only mon-fri 07.00 to 18.00.

Also the area it actually covers is quite small and central so worth checking to see if you can get round it, have a looks on TFL website.

As far as hotels go it depends on where you want to be. There are loads to choose from but definitely have a look on trip advisor before booking for reviews, I managed to book a thoroughly dodgy one a while back, before trip advisor, and had to go elsewhere for the night as SWMBO refused to stay there. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
