Wonder if the price varies depending on whats wrong, or whether items are replaced irrespective. Probably the latter if he is offering a warranty.

Good price indeed. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Does not sound like a full rebuild - the parts alone with a rebuilt torque converter cost about that.

Sounds like you have a new valve body with 'hardened valve bore inserts' and fluid. If your only prob was an inoperative valve then this will def have gotten you going again. Risk factors for the future are:
- worn TCC lining
- worn pump
- and above all crud floating throughout the transmission. The stock filter in an auto box is on the suction side not the pressure side so it cant be made too fine or you'd end up starving the pump. This means that most of your finer particulates will pumped through the box over and over again.

I am not saying that this is not a good repair. If the rest of your gearbox is in good shape this should keep you going for a while. It is not the same as a full rebuild, tho.
