Not tried yet as not had to go anywhere

Well fate pointed its fickle finger at me this morning!

I've driven nearly 1,000 miles in the past week or so, and drove from Glasgow to Dundee last night, no issues.

Came out this morning, put the key in - NOTHING, DEAD AS A DEAD THING!! Tried my emergency start pack - it laughed in my face!

Finally got a jump start from a van with heavy duty jump leads.

Since I was heading to Aberdeen, I ordered the Bosch S5 from ECP and picked it up when I got here, so it's in the boot should things go south again. (Used discount code XMASPAS25 and got it for just under £100).

Thought I was going to be able to not have to replace the battery for a while yet, but it seems not!  Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Chickened out of fitting the Bosch 110A battery in the inclement weather.
I took it to "Specialist Sports Cars" in Wimbledon, or rather to "Germantec" their onsite workshop.
I cut the negative side flange off before i took it in.
They charged £45 and took about 1/2 an hour to fit.
Mechanic said, a bit tight with the "explosive charge".

Used the FBH with the Bosch this morning, toasty warm and engine kicked into life very quickly

what is this explosive charge on the battery....

Its so that when you crash you have something that will go bang next to the battery, the acid will then eat through the car destroying it nicely and making sure you buy another LR. Guaranteed sale for LR without trying!

Seriously its some protection thing to the internal systems

With yours being a 2011 rambles you'll likely have an AGM battery fitted and a 17minute park heat function to save your battery.
I think this proves the point to me that anything but a big heavy duty jump start pack wont do for the average FFRR and that a running vehicle is needed to provide some charge and then it still needs a minute or two to get some juice flowing... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Am seriously hacked off.....

Bought the Varta Silver Dynamic 020 Battery (I1) after doing my homework here on the threads. As I was taking my 57 Plate TDV8 VSE into JD Automotive in Northwich for an Inspection 2 service (which ain't cheap!) I asked them to swap over the battery for me at the same time. (I'm waiting for back surgery, so was keen to avoid wrestling with the weight of this thing by doing it myself...).

Cheshire's leading Land Rover Specialist (their words...) couldn't make the change. Apparently the Varta is 4cms too long. And yet plenty of other people have made it fit....

JD Automotive wanted to sell me the Oldham 020A Battery, wich is their recommended 110Ah Battery. The dimensions of the Oldham battery are 393x175x190. The dimensions of the Varta battery I took along are 393x175x190. EXACTLY the same size. Strange how the battery they wanted to sell me would have fitted but the one I provided was too big.

Can anyone suggest where I could possibly go in the North West to get somebody to do this swap for me? I live in the South Cheshire area (near Nantwich) but would be prepared to travel within a reasonable distance to get this done.

(Failing that - anybody want to buy an unused Varta battery.......??)
