They work on minor impact too; like if you kick a tyre, knock a panel etc... wakes the unit up to record to save the battery.

my mate has it in his transit, it has a camera in each of the b post and works with his alarm microwave sensor, you only have to loook in the window and it snaps you,we not talking a digital image but good enough to see who it is..its not a great load on your battery no more then a few leds would take.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Had a look at a 2010 at a dealer yesterday, and there is indeed a camera mounted on the rearview mirror housing! It looks like another sensor that is bonded to the screen, thus no adjustment, and is lower down from the main mirror body.

You can see it protruding from the mirror housing from inside the car. The additional forward (sideish) facing cameras are on the lower valance of the front bumper.

So it looks like you were correct with regard to its positioning after all. The complete mirror assembly is very different to look at if you compare it to the 2002-2005 2006> mirrors.

My MY10 has the same mirror as above, but there is no camera.

i have also been in the dealers today and looked at the 2010 to see if i could see the hand stitched leather roof lining and i looked at the mirror but could not see any camera.  V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

You see the bit that sticks out at the bottom? Well, that's it I'm sure. If you look at the front (sorry no piccie), there is the usual light sensor in the back of the mirror, and the rain sensor in the windscreen above that. So all in all there are three things as you look at the front of the windcreen.

i think you will find that it is indeed camera lens shape but in fact it is the new style rain/light sensors, i have the 2010 mirror... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

the 2010 camera module takes 5 cameras, 2 in the front bumper 1 in each door mirror and 1 at the rear, they are ment to be hd cameras V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
