Digital TV Picture Quality

This may have been covered elsewhere and it's not something that I've had much time to fiddle about with yet, but what sort of picture quality should I reasonably expect from the car's antenna?

I live in a perfectly good reception area, but I've not yet managed to auto tune it to more than 3 or 4 stations and all of those look like Ice Station Zebra, during a blizzard. Some better than others to be fair, but none that you'd call a good picture. Don't think I've ever seen BBC1 for instance - tends to find Channels 4 & 5, plus an MTV channel (I think). I'm sure I've seen elsewhere on the forum others saying that they've received freeview radio stations as well.

I've seen 'for sale' pictures of RRs with the TV on and apparantly showing a much better picture than I get, but maybe they live next door to Crystal Palace or something!

Is it unrealistic to expect much more from what's basically a relatively cheap TV tuner in a car?

In good reception areas, including my drive, I get good picture quality and a large range of digital channels. In poorer areas I may only get 6 or so UHF analogue channels. I get complaints the picture drops in and out when driving, so inevitably the DVD comes on. 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

Interesting. Mine is set to UK, but is on PAL-I. I think that's the UK broadcast format, although I think there's little difference between this and the B format - something to do with bandwith and sound, but not something I can claim to know much about. Having said that, I did try switching PAL format, but I only got a signal at all when in 'I' format. I think I'll need to have a longer play around with it!
