On Wednesday evening I found what appeared to be a lovely looking 2003 4.4 V8 FFRR.

It's apparently a 2 owner car from new with 48k miles on it being sold by a garage in Congleton.

In the pictures the car looked lovely but appeared to be cheap. I rang the seller who advised that the car was absolutely immaculate. The seat in the advert looked worn but he sent me a picture of it and it looked immaculate.

There was something about the car that seemed to good to be true so I was airing on the side of caution.

When arriving to see the car, initially it looked great however on closer inspection it all fell apart.

When the bonnet was opened it caught on the drivers door, the rear passengers door was out of line and the gaps uneven. There was a fairly severe oil leak from something at the front, the air suspension was inactive, there was some loose trim, broken trim and it was generally scruffy.

Upon further investigation it appears that the car was a Category D total loss insurance write off in 2009.

Just what you wanna find when you're 250 miles from home!

As always, if it sounds cheap there's a reason

I'm usually a believer in that too however the seller assured me it was immaculate, apparently there wasn't a mark on it. I mentioned having an AA inspection done and the guy was perfectly happy to accommodate. Usually if they're a dog they refuse so thought this one might be ok.
