Guys,
Blowers aint getting hot! Always cold air, never any hot air!
Been into garage and... New thermostat, New coolant and air lock removed, new cabin filter. Garage said it will blow hot at times then back cold

Any ideas???

What does the engine coolant temperature gauge say? If it's hot then I think your problem isn't with the coolant not reaching temperature.

Sits as normal.

Expansion tank was empty day I gave car to garage so I topped it up. Did notice the float sensor in it was missing so obv going to need to monitor level or buy new one. Lads in garage said there was got air. But next day was cold.

Got it bk lastnight as I need it this weekend and cold air was blowing. Mate said it blows hot, turn engine of n then cold again.

Looked just now, coolant level was very low again, blowing cold air. Topped up...hot air.
No signs of any leaks tho! BAFFLED!!

Thinking running it n keep topping up until all air is out the system????

Try running with expansion tank cap off for a while, may help to shift any air in the system ? (This advice not tested as an OK thing to do, just something I might try, others may confirm or otherwise?) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

If you are consistently loosing coolant and there's no sign of an external leak, which can be very hard to find on a hot engine, you have to consider the possibility of a head gasket failure.
You should consider having you garage pressure test your cooling system.
Head gasket failure could be consistent with no heat available.

Take it that a head gasket failure is leading to a remortgage???

While you are at the garage it would also be worth asking them to do a "sniff test" of your coolant for traces of carbon monoxide.
Between a pressure test and a sniff test you should be able to determine the size of remortage required.
Shouldn't be too bad even if it is one of the head gaskets.
I the meantime I would still be looking for an external leak.

Well...ain't head gasket issue. Test done n not at fault!
Heaters were hot n cold all day today....

Sticky, water control valves?

There are two water control valves for the air con which regulates the amount of water going through the matrix.

They are located on the right hand side of the engine, mounted on the vertical part on the inner wing(tucked down the side of the engine) if they arent opening to commands from the controls effectively you could have random heating. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Coolant levels seems to be holding today. Just did a quick 10 mile round trip, some heat from some vents. Turned off engine to do a little temperature monitoring n all blowing warm air now after a restart. Few temp differences of a few degrees but no longer, some hot n some cold

Will see how they run 2mz!

If you guys download the workshop manual PDF through the Wiki, you will see that the heating system is a number of flaps that direct the warm and cold air in different directions. You may have an issue with the actuators, connectors of actuators etc.

From what I remember, one of the actuators can be reached relatively easily from the LHD passenger side although you need to remove the glove box to get to all the screws. But have a good look at the workshop manual (2002-2005 model).
