Not being stupid here but from your pic the white bit is the float and not coolant. Hope I'm not insulting you but the coolant from that pic looks ok. Have you done any long journeys I the car yet? If the oil is black and not milky this is a possitive. Don't stress just yet. Plenty of help avalible on here is you can answer everyone's questions. As much as they may sound stupid they usually have a reason. Thumbs Up [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Not sure what you mean- The float is an orange colour and the coolant fluid is white? I stirred fluid with float and its definitely a white colour

Yes done journeys upto couple of hours since I've had it. This photo was taken about half an hour after a 25 mile journey. Check coolant message alerted me to check it.

The float has the long stick on it that sticks out the top. The white but I can see is your float. The fluid should be a pink/orange or blue/green colour. The check level will come up if the mix of water/coolant isn't correct. I will take a pic of mine for you in the morning to show you. I would think if you have driven for a few hours with no issues it is a good sign. A HGF would show its self I would imagine with overheating/over pressuring or other problems. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

There are a few rings you could do drain the coolant and refill with fresh Stuff, which isn a bad thing if it ever even been done, or had an addative put in and also nice to now you have the correct mix ready for this cold spell we're about to have plus you get to know your car a bit better for future issues. You could overflow the header tank to see whats happening in there. It could be air/gas bubbles in the fluid giving it a white look. If you do over fill it don't put the cap back on untill its. Ack to normal levels. Use either the drain on the bottom of the rad or the bleed screw ontop of the tank to get rid of excess fluid [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Just checked and it was the float colour! Still not sure coolant is correct colour. Manual says it needs to be exactly 50% antifreeze 50% water otherwise alert will come on. How do I ensure that without draining everything and starting again. I have no mechanic skills so that isn't an option!

Could I jut put some antifreeze in to get it to max level and then get dealer to check on Tuesday.

Also slightly worried its so low after 3 months of garage checking it and it being MOTed where they would of checked levels.

If it wasn't winter, I'd say top it up, yourself - neat antifreeze - you know where its at and keep an eye on it. If it drops, you know you have an issue, find the leak, fix leak, and then get garage to change the coolant, thus ending up with correct antifreeze mix and no leak.

Trouble is, we are in winter, so perhaps having not enough antifreeze in is not the best idea.

If I were you, I'd top up with neat antifreeze and ask the garage to test the system on Tuesday, with a view to finding a leak, and adjust antifreeze level as required.

That way, come close of play Tuesday, you'll either have no leak and right antifreeze, or a leak to find and right antifreeze........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks. Sounds like a plan.

Read something about getting the correct colour antifreeze as you can't mix them? What colour will I need?

Not sure on colour, but it needs to be ethylene glycol based (containing no methanol) with only Silicate based non-phosphate corrosion inhibitors..........according to my manual...........

Though as thats nearly a decade ago now, they could all be like that..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Don't mix colours! If you do you will end up making a sludge and Censored stuff up. If your coolant is pink/orange ONLY put pink or orange in. If its blue/green ONLY put blue/green in. I think the pink is an OAT type. If you go into halfords they will sell you the correct colour. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I had a reply to a thread which said that the coolant level check not only checks level but specific gravity, ie if there is not enough anti freeze it will make a fuss about it with a check coolant level warning.

If after making sure the levels are ok you do not get this then all would seem well.

Or you can get a coolant tester for under a tenner off amazon.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
