Aqua planing problem solved.

Yesterday I popped a question on here about a particullary bad case of aquaplaning. The mods moved this message to "wheels & tyres" & I can see why but the question really was intended to be a general question.

Today I took the car in to have the 4 wheel tracking done & what a difference. The track rod ends were replaced early in the summer & tracking supposedly done after the repair but I'd never been totally comfortable with the results. The tyres were wearing on the outside edge, much more than I'd expected.

After the tracking was done I deliberately drove over the road that had caused all the trouble yesterday when I'd had my twin axle caravan on the back. There was a lot of standing water & the snow was still not allowing the water to drain away. Up until now the car would have aqua planing like mad when I hit standing water. Today you wouldn't even notice the large puddles, she behaved perfectly & I was a happy man. Now we all know that FFRR's do not like to be fault free. The rear washer & wiper gave up the ghost & there was no warning at all, so it'll be a job on my todo list.

Would you believe I went to Kwik Fit but I demanded to watch the work being done. To my surprise they were very efficient & helpful & that has not always the case in that particular branch.
