jump start advice

i have used the search function to search for 'jump starts' , but the results are the same weather i put jump start or tyre kicker!!! what am i doing wrong..
anyway.
my boys were using all the electrics including RSE this morning and now the car is not behaving well, and diplaying allsorts of error meassages and wont start..
i presume a low battery.
i understand that its not a simple matter of + and - connection to the battery and start.
i have found the bolt for the negative connection on the suspension attachment area, but where does the positive lead go? straight to the + battery terminal? looking in the user manual there should be a + sperate box to connect to , but my 2007 model does not have this ?
can i please ask for advice? cheers

after this i also want to check if its a tired old battery or/and the alternater is putting out enough power. i presume i have to go the hidden menu? have not done this before, is it easy to find these items i am looking for ?
thanks

I think I also have a flat battery, have come to jump start and the manual I have shows the 2006 pic in the above post but I can't find the + connection point outside the battery compartment.
Mine is a 2007 TDV8, does anyone know if it will be ok to connect as shown in the 2009 pic?
Thanks
Nick

Yes it should work fine, just make sure the jump leads are heavy enough and properly connected

And also don't turn the key until you've given it a few minutes to get some decent charge in it otherwise it will crank and die just before it catches:( Being a TDV8 before you even crank there will be a huge drain. Make sure lights are turned off and not left to auto, interior fans are off and lights as well.

Then before you crank let the fuel pumps spin for a few seconds after the glowplug light goes out and then crank.

Then do the startup procedure of Lock to Lock with the steering wheel and the sensors and systems should talk to each other happily again. Then once you have disconnected the cables and so forth then enjoy a nice long 30minute drive to get its juice back up Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Check the actual battery for + and - as the pictures look opposite to my tdv8..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I thought the lock to lock steering procedure was only for 2002-2005 MYs and not for the MY 2006 and onwards ?? Can someone please check and confirm ??

I have not used the procedure ever on my MY2006 and I have not noticed any issues. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. Just a quick update.

When I retrieved the jump leads from the back of the garage one of the clips was corroded and hanging off, coupled with the fact they probably weren't big enough for the RR battery I thought I better buy some new ones. Had a look on tinternet an Halfrauds had some at £30 which seemed ok. Just happened to check my email while i was on and there was a mail from money saving supermarket saying AA cover £65 a year including home start. So for extra £35 I joined AA last night and now have cover as driver or passenger of any car for a year and they came out and started the RR Very Happy

The AA chap also told me that if I take the garage and parts upgrade for £95 it covers batteries. You have to pay £35 excess on claim but for £130 you have a brand new battery fitted and still the option of 4 more claims if required. Haven't looked at price of RR battery but I'm assuming it would be £150+ so again it seems like a good deal?

Seems pretty good, a genuine rr battery is about £150, but a bosch one is available which will fit fpr about £70 after discount and for a slightly larger one £99ish

The AA are always worth having in my mind, have been a member for years. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
