Hi all, new here and looking for a new car. I had a Disco 3 that was a great car, but loads of issues with parking brake, suspension and electrical gremlins.

I have searched the site for general info but wondered what your opinion is on buying a 2008ish tdv8 with around 70-100k miles.

Any particular issues on a par with the Disco? I would be buying with FSH and probably a warranty of some sort.

Be great to get your opinions and thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.

Have a quick look at Gary Elliots website (in the Sponsors link), he has two nice 2007 TDV8s for sale but he may also know a nice 2008 for you.

There are heaps of posts on people looking for any type, any age, any KMs. It is about what it important to you, like full service history for example, number of previous owners, type of owners etc. etc. Good luck with your research, they're great cars, a lot nicer to drive and look at than a D3 IMHO. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi, welcome to the forum, have recently moved from the d3 to a td6 ffrr, had a few teething problems with it, but not as many as I had with the d3. Cheaper to repair than d3

Welcome to the forum!

I don't think there are any particular issues, I'm going to be looking for a similar car, so I'd like to know too.

So far as I'm aware the tdv8 lump is pretty bulletproof, and haven't heard of any gearbox issues. Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

interesting to hear repairs are cheaper than d3. I will get a warranty for piece of mind but nice to know of known regular issues before taking the plunge. It always felt with the d3 that problems, particularly with the suspension system, were always fixed by trial and error and it was difficult to pin point the actual broken part. I understand they are complex cars, but the mechanicals should be robust in my opinion. Does the range rover use the same suspension and electric handbrake as the d3? Thanks for your replies so far.
