They probably are very good - for him as he'll get a kickback. An aftermarket warranty for a Range Rover bumper to bumper will generally run to the tune of £1000-1500. I had one and the 6 times I tried to claim it was rejected. Even though they advertised it as an "Exclusion-less" warranty! I tried to claim for: Failed Ball joints - they said wear & tear Steering Column - Sorry that part's not covered Coolant level sensor - Sorry that part's not covered Water Pump - they said wear & tear Handbrake warning switch - Sorry that part's not covered Cracked header tank - Sorry that part's not covered Often with these things the parts that are covered are misleading, we had a Freelander again with an RAC top level warranty bought from the dealer. A few weeks later the wipers packed up, but RAC said that although the wipers are covered that only covers the motor, not the linkage. The motor was cheap and easy to replace, the linkage not so! As others have said, save your pennies and put them towards good maintenance and shop around for repairs when things to fall off. Dan |

i think most of them cover mechanical breakdown, i.e...if something breaks from mechanical defect but exclude the wear and teat, now if you bought a water pump and put it on the shelf and left it there would it go wrong, NO and if it did they would pay for it, but once its on the car and has gone round and round the wear and tear factor is there and they wont pay....in short they will take your money and you will be very lucky if you get paid out. i had my torque converter go, its listed as a covered part but they cut it opened to show that there was wear on the internal parts, this is a seal non serviceable item in a seal for life box...ohh yes don't forget the wording subsequentinal damage, so if your water pump head snapped of and went through your rad the water pump may be covered but the rad would not... so in a nut shell put the money in the bank.... Don't use Warranty Wise, I paid for a 2 year warranty made 3 claims, all rejected. Not worth the paper its written on.

It's difficult to say........I purchased a two year warranty "RAC Gold" with my RR. I found 3 faults with the car soon after I bought it. The dealer advised me to arrange the repair via the RAC, which i did. The RAC sent out an independent accessor and he filed a report stating that the issues were due to wear and tear! The RAC refused to authorise the repairs. In my case I took the car back to the dealer for him to sort out.
