8th Gen ULF installed. Suggestions for a phone?

Hi All

Having successfully installed an 8th generation ULF in my 2003 L322 (with huge thanks to mark "mjdronfield" - a top bloke and a 1st class forum member!) I now have a problem pairing my current phone. It's a six month old Nokia 710 Lumia (windows o/s) but, despite numerous attempts, the signal keeps dropping after 4-5 seconds. I have tried a 3 year old Samsung Monte and that works ok, so I know the ULF isn't faulty and my re-pinning of the telephone loom is all correct. I have therefore concluded the ULF either doesn't like Windows phones, or because it's a 2006 module, it is just not compatible with some of the more modern phones. Having said that, I'd be interested if anyone has successfully managed to pair a Nokia Lumia with their ULF - what's the secret? Bow down

So I am now on the hunt for a replacement phone and wondered what other members are using with their 8th generation, or older, ULF? I guess it's a case of how recent a model phone can I get away with?

Any recommendations/suggestions would be appreciated! Wink Cheers

Greg

It's probably not what you want to hear but look out for 13th gen ULF and then use an up to date smart phone rather than working backwards Rolling Eyes

Yep, you're right Andy - not what I wanted to hear! Laughing

Having spent god knows how long fitting the 8th gen one, which cost a small fortune, I'm not only unlikely get my money back selling it, but I don't relish another marathon fitting session. Drove me mad Evil or Very Mad as Mark will know!

I've checked my wife's Blackberry (2011 model) and that works fine too, so I'm confident there are quite a number of "modern" phones out there that'll work - just need to find one I like! Wink Cheers

Hi Mark

Thanks for the info. Must admit, I'm veering towards Samsung having had a few of them in the past. Let the search commence! Smile Cheers
