DVD, SATNAV system

With the cost of fixing the pixels off setting the cost of new, I stumped up the cash and got myself a new stereo system.
Really easy"plug and play", works a treat, I'm well pleased Cool .

That looks a nice piece of kit.

Take it you had an HSE if you had a pixel issue where the screen is.........

Is that unit self contained then ? GPS antenna's and stuff....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Yes, it's a HSE.
The GPS has a seperate antenna that sits on dash.
It plugs into original vehicle electrics, uses the steering wheel controls and now my ipod connects direct instead of through a wireless link.

Any chance of a link ? You say plug and play ,so no chopping of mounting brackets needed?

You do have to trim the radio surround to fit, it's out of sight once done so no problems.

Thats a very nice piece of kit. Thumbs Up
Puts the non-touch screen models in the shade.
Just a pity it hasn't got a digital tv tuner instead of the analogue.
Won't get wet in that position either. Smile

Now that looks really quite Land Rover I like it Thumbs Up

If its was DAB and Digital TV it would be perfect replacement NAV for every BMW RR including the Vogues....

We are a bit anti BMW non touchscreen in this thread aren't we.

I happen to like my unit, with hybrid TV added and MK4 nav...........

If I'm not mistaken, the early touchscreens didn't have DAB or Digital TV either.........

I like the way this unit uses the steering wheel buttons as well.

How easy is it to update the nav maps and such like ?

Can you add a reversing camera to it ?

You can add a reversing cam to it. That's a job for another day

No good for those with a screen in their HSE though Crying or Very sad .

So this can only go in cars that don't have a OEM screen already ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thats what I read. My 03 Vogue unit needs to be replaced and I really fancy this. I'm still learning all about RR systems etc but would love to know exactly why this unit would not work. IMHO the OEM RR infotainment system is pants (early model at least) it reminds me of the old BBC type computers and needs to go.

I have to disagree completely with that last bit. But, to each his own.

This unit will not work in a RR with DSP or work as a replacement for the original head unit - at least not without an large amount of additional work.

I think this is a great replacement for a MID radio with probs, but I don't consider it up to the quality and integration level that can be achieved with the OEM system (albeit at a greater cost). I don't know if the later units have changed from what I saw a year or 2 ago, but there was a definite difference to OEM.

You have to consider the costs involved, though. I retrofitted the OEM nav, installed OEM bluetooth, an upgraded MKIV nav, DVBT, reverse cam, Intravee (ipod), etc and spent close to €1800 despite careful shopping and building the loom myself. That is easily 4x the cost of this unit. If this had been avail from beginning on I might have chosen to do otherwise...
