Hi, I've had the SC a couple of months now, and touch wood, apart from a couple of small things, it has been plain sailing.

I needed a BT upgrade to get the iPhones to sync properly, a third set of headphones for the RES, the front tow eye cover and a replacement Venture Cam, now all done thanks to FULLFATRR and Fleabay!

I stopped in at the local garage to top off the air in the tyres, and yes you guessed it, one of the valves made a bid for freedom along with most of the air. Like an idiot I sat there for a few seconds with my finger over the remains of the valve!! Called the RAC to change the wheel, it was dark, wet and I've heard the jacks can be like cheese!

Anyway, I have bought a couple of new valves from the 'Bay', £19 each, I hope they work, 433Mhz?? My question is, can I simply take the new valve and the wheel to my local Kwik Fit??

The only other little funny I have is with the Radio/Ventilation. When Max is pressed the Radio loses its tuning...most odd and could almost be Italian. Not too stressed about this unless it is the precursor to something more major. Anyone else had anything similar?

Just received the valves, not quite what I was expecting, no centre piece, do these just screw in, and can Kwik Fit do this??

I don't know about Kwik Fit, but I know that a few tyre places claim to be experts in TPMS (mine was a nightmare on my S/C when I first got it)!

Not sure exactly where in the country you are, but Merityre have a few TPMS specialist branches who should know what they're doing.

Although in theory if you've bought the right valves the any tyre place can fit them, then you just inflate the tyres to the correct pressure and then they'll set themselves after a few miles.

Note 'in theory'...  Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Oh...and not sure it's much help but I borrowed my wife's 3 series the other day and when you put her heated rear screen on it totally destroys the radio signal.

I'm not sure how you'd fix that though...  Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

re the radio loss, if when you press MAX the heated rear window might be activated , and as the antenna is there there must be a short or bad connection... ... - .- -.

Thanks for the replies, mine do indeed look like Stans picture, but the actual central valve mechanism isn't there, if you look down the barrel so to speak there is just a hole and you can see through to the sensor underneath. Do the valves screw in, why would you take them out.....unless I'm missing something in both senses

Stan, thanks that makes sense both front and rear heated screens come on, I'll check the contacts on the rear.

The centres just screw in - any tyre place can do that.

The fact they are missing means the valves are used - the centre was removed to deflate the tyre - but for £19 you knew that.......

as said, the valve cores have been taken out... ... - .- -.

Thanks guys, was worried I'd bought a pair of lemons. They were described as coming off a brand new 2012 RR but obviously had been used just the once, so as I expected.

Same thing happened to me, but rather than risk the new modules not self-programming correctly, I unscrewed the new stems and put them on the original TPMS module. Small torx screw holds it together.

When it had happened to me before, even the dealer couldn't get them to program, so I wasn't prepared to take a chance.

I'm changing my mind on TPMS at the moment - they always used to work for me and on the one occassion they were needed did warn me when I had a puncture well before it became a flat.

But now having to decide whether to either replace my 20" wheels (that have the TPMS) with new tyres or what were my replacement 19" that now 30k later also need new tyres with TPMS + tyres. Local fitter won't provide the TPMS (although will fit if I supply, without any guarantee they'll work) and I keep hearing differing stories over whether or not the blasted things will auto re-programme.

Even the local main dealer seems to be dithering in their opinion.

PS - from what I can gather the 2012 MY TPMS were smaller & squarer than the picture below (which is correct for earlier MY). NFI whether or not they are compatible... Same frequency... No guarnatee that this snippet of info is any more accuate that other stuff that's been said about TPMS either!

All seems OK, Kwik Fit got their BIG jack out, new module and valve fitted and seems to sync just fine.

They sync just fine - I swap wheels for winter - it just takes 5-10 mins of driving for them to get recognised.
