What Whisky do ou like?

There are plenty of member here from north of Hadrian ’s Wall, so come on share your favourites.
I like them (Whiskey) mellow and velvety, not peppery or peaty.
I am fond of Tomintoul’s 27 (hard to find now) or 33 year old and like the Balvenie Port wood as well as the old Pultney.
What can you recommend?

Whiskey is Irish. Whisky is Scottish.

I'm not from north of Hadrians Wall, but my wife is from good Scottish stock and born in Edinburgh.

Anyway, malts....

Absolute favourite is Caol Isla cask-strength. I have a 30 year-old Caol Isla which is much poorer by comparison.

Glengoyne Teapot is gorgeous! Demerara sugar in a glass. Smooth and restrained and very long lasting. Their 21 year old is well worth the money, too.

Recently discovered Laphroiag Quarter Cask and really enjoying it.

Ardbeg 17 year old is now rare and wonderful.

Old Pultney 21 year old lives up to the hype but is eclipsed by the Caol Isla in my view.

I could go on, but will leave it at that for now. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

I'd agree with Caol Isla cask strength but also recommend Auschentan Triple Wood (tastes like good toffee) or acNoc which is just a nice sublime easy going but smokey whisky.

Shock horror.....

Am a lapsed member of Malt Whisky Society and they have casks that are a total eye opener with regards taste, colour, nose etc but day to day one of the nicest bargain basements I have had recently is Tesco's own Islay malt. Not exactly leapfrog but not far off.

Glendronach, 21 YO, not easy to find, but if you like sherry style, then worth finding.

If its your round I'll have just about any whisky.. Laughing I have 17 in the house just now. I am sipping a 1993 lagavulin tonight. I see the old pulteney has a few votes. I have that as it was my grandads favourite. I do like the peaty ones, but I also love Perthshire malts like Blair athol and edradour. I have just checked and every bottle, apart from my black label, is below the half way mark and some well below. Time to stock up. In saying that, I buy on average 2 bottles a year, that's all. So I have a whisky about 3 times a month. I don't think that's a lot..... It's red wine that is my main vice! Previously..

Not a whisky drinker myself, but had some bad news about a friend today who has bone cancer. He does like a drop so want to buy him a sensible price, but quality bottle. What would you recommend ? 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

Yep, for me it's got to be the Western Malts.....Laphroig, Lagavulin, Talisker or Bowmore.

If you don't lie the peaty taste, then A'bunadh or Dalmore.

Mike
