Hi All

I inherited a retro-fitted Dension Ice-Link in my recently purchased 04 Vogue, although it's so old it's only compatible up to and including the 3rd Gen Ipod Nano (which I happen to have!). However, although the Ipod is charging ok when plugged into it's cradle, it's not coming up on the display unit as being "connected" and therefore I'm getting no sound. I am of course assuming it worked for the previous owner.

Also, the CD changer wasn't working either, so I removed the 5a fuse to check if it had blown, and hey presto, the CD now works!

So a couple of questions -

Do I have to do something magical to get the Ipod to work? I thought there might be an auxiliary button to press to listen to the Ipod, but I only have the Radio or CD (formerly Tape) options on the display.

And how can the CD changer work when there's no fuse in the socket?

I'm guessing the Ice-Link and CD Changed may be linked in some way?

Any tips would, as always, be very much appreciated!

For your iPod to work you need to select CD, as you say it is linked, and actually mimics the CD player.

In the glove box you should have a small box with two phono sockets a switch and a blue LED. grom memory the switch needs to be in the upper position, either way, what you are looking for is a steady ( not flashing LED). Once again from memory, it think you have to switch the car off for the change to take effect.

Once you've got it all "working" your first five playlists on you pod, appear as CD1-5, and CD6 will play everything from the first track to the last.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've just been out to check and I can't see a small box anywhere in the glove compartment. I only have the CD changer, and of course the fuse box. Is the small box you are referring to part of the after-market Dension kit? If it is, it must be hidden elsewhere in the car!

Yes the small box is part of the Dension system. Normally it lives on the top right hand side of the lower glove box roof, it's not always obvious, as its set quite a way back.

Thanks again for that, but it's deffo not there.

This looks like the piece of kit I have and judging by the red/white/black audio connectors, I suspect it's plugged directly into the rear of either the CD changer (to over-ride it when playing?) or it's plugged into the main display unit mounted in the dashboard.

Ahhh yes sorry, should've read the post properly, you clearly state "ice-link" which is the device displayed on the web link.

I had one of these in a previous vehicle and it replaced the CD changer. But I do seem to remember that Dension made some FM models, this might explain why you're not getting anything.
