European travel requirements

evening all! just tabbing down to Morzine in France for a spot of schussing on the piste. have got most things - V5, insurance doc, warning triangle, hi-viz jkt, tow rope, jump leads etc . what else do I need to do/know? am I going to have to mask my lights at all? Can light bulbs be changed by oneself (if not then I don't need to carry spares!)

any guidance gladly taken on board.

If it's just France it's compulasary to carry a Warning Triangle and adjust your headlights - I think there is a lever for this behind the headlight housing.

Found this:

"if you have xenon headlights, undo the round cap where your hid bulb is and feel inside, there is a slide bracket that goes up and down, this is the switch to change your beam pattern to drive legaly on the right side in europe"

Yes, I got told off by a chinese french lady, probably because I was standing inbetween the cars when we were in motion. It takes about 5 seconds to do each one, the little slider doesn't feel like its doing much but I didn't get flashed by angry drivers while I was there!

I went down to the Grand Massif area in January when there was snow in the UK too, we had snow chains on board but never needed them, the frogs keep the roads clear. Discovery 4 HSE

Rolling with laughter

I did the same last year driving up to Lille but that was more cause I didn't care. By the time we got off the ferry, it was really late so I doubt the rozzers were around.

well, what a great way to go skiing. definitely not flying from now on!! left after work at 5 on
weds and arrived for breakfast at 6am thurs - 800 miles total. I drove over 8 hours in total (other half did 2) and averaged 26 mpg mixed driving. car cruised all night at 85 mph/3000 rpm without a murmur. sun is beaming down and snow is good but melting fast!! new snow next week apparently. I am in RR heaven!
