Vehicle articulation error

Now before you say it (use the search) this is not a normal EAS question.

My 2004 L322 has had the air suspension issue for awhile - clears using the eastool and is fine for a few days/weeks etc. So I decided that it must be the sensors getting out of wack and with the age of the car they had probably had enough crud on them etc ( having searched this forum and found that to be a likely cause on my age of FFRR).

While I was at it I changed all the pads (good job too having seen what little was left on them).

So today has been both a success and a failure...

Brakes are great and copper ease ensured no squeaks Smile

Air suspension inactive still....,

Having changed the sensors I knew I needed to recalibrate the EAS so using the RSW all comms I went through the process having cleared any faults (none were found anyway). BUT Car did not go up into the factory calibration height....

Now, the car sensors are all brand new, the air bags are all fine and the car does not sag when left for a while at any corner.

I am now starting to consider it is the compressor (another regular culprit) and this is my open question to you all - whats your opinion?

I've had that error before when mine was in fault with "not enough energy to regulate front axel error". I thought it was Censored bag but it would move from front axel to rear axel. I stripped the compressor and cleaned it up and not had a single error I'm 4months+. Give it a clean up before you spend £300 on a new compressor. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

so just been out in the car for a short drive and the suspension is at almost full height but with air suspension inactive on the dash.

point being that the compressor must be doing something - wondering if it is struggling and takes too long to move the car so the ECU times out and reports an error? "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

+1 and if it has 4 new height sensors it will be really screwed up. Have a read on my overhaul compressor post then get it hooked up to the RAC for a calibration. Think that will sort it. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I would make sure it is not an airbag. Up to off road height and lift each corner manually listening for hissing. .

^^^

Not if the leak is in the "extended" area of the airbag, the compressor would need to do work when that corner is articulated/extended. Whilst in lock out will probably hold air at normal height. Mine did just this. .

Replaced the compressor and now the car goes up and down nice and quickly - however... (there is always one isn't there).... when I run the RSW All comms on read faults on the EAS I am getting 'exhaust valve fault'.

Can someone tell me where that bit is - what it looks like and break it to me gently on how much it costs.....

Nearly there though Smile "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Spoke way too soon....

Messing with the suspension and calibrating it etc thought "I'll just try the old lift each corner with the car at full off road height to check the bags are ok..." BANG PPSSSSSSSTTTTT Range Rover looking very sorry for itself on its nose with its arse in the air.

So it looks like after all it was the front right air bag (front left was replaced last year) - so probably not the compressor or the sensors (if anyone wants to make an offer on these parts please PM).

Due to lack of time to DIY, the car is in the dealers now ready for a front strut replacement operation and should be back by Friday.

Censored ! "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."
