"Suspension failure,30mph max speed" error message

Hi guys,

Was driving home down the A3 yesterday when I had the error message in the subject line appear on the dash. Sad

(Car is a 2007 Supercharged BTW).

I was doing about 60mph at the time and the car's suspension went rock hard and was like riding a pogo stick down a cobbled lane! Confused

Anyway, pulled over as soon as I could but before I stopped I got a "Vehicle Suspension Slowly Raising" message. Pulled over, turned the car off and let it go into sleep mode, restarted and the error had gone and the suspension was back to normal. When I got to my destination, there was a hissing from the offside front corner.

I left the car overnight and haven't seen the error message since (I've only driven a couple of miles however) and all seems to be as it should be - the air suspension is lowering and raising ok and the hissing sound appears to have gone.

I've done a search and understand it could be any number of things from a damaged strut to a leaky airbag, but in those threads someone also mentioned a suspension reset procedure that could be done through the touch screen.

Any ideas on what that is and how I do that before I take it in somewhere to get it looked at?

Before I spend any money I just want to make sure it's not a simple computer glitch (working in IT I'm a great believer in 'turn it off, turn it back on again')!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Definitely split airbag on OSF. I had exactly the same symptom and also you will probably experience OSF wheel spin on a large gradient as there is not the required(same as other 3 wheels) downwards pressure.
I went through all these and everything went away when I replaced mine.

Thanks Neil.

I'll do the fairy liquid test before I rush out and buy parts, but do you know if these need to be replaced in pairs? Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Give Neil a prize - split OSF air spring.

Just what I need in the run up to Christmas!

Have been advised that it's definitely worth doing these in pairs, so that doubles the price.

Also, the S/C air spring is different to the non S/C - so I can't even buy the much more affordable Dunlop parts!

I'll make a donation to the forum if anyone can point me to anywhere that can beat these prices for these part numbers -

R/H - LR032563 @ £309.98 inc VAT & delivery

L/H - LR032570 @ £309.98 inc VAT & delivery

So Dan could get close, but couldn't beat the price.

I'm 'pleased' to say that the car is booked in to have both front air springs replaced on Friday (both OEM parts).

Total bill (parts and labour) in the end = £761.96 inc VAT

Not cheap, but a heck of a lot better than I first feared (my first quote from a LR dealer was over £1,500 just for the parts)!

If any other S/C owners need front air springs I'm happy to share my supplier. Was the cheapest I could find by some margin. Thumbs Up Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

I may be suffering the same issue. Yesterday for the first time the off-road height could not be achieved (I use it almost daily with the puddles/sinkholes here) and I have noticed the car "coming up" just after starting.

Can you give me the address/website of your supplier ??

Cheers,

Wish I'd seen the thread just a bit earlier. I'm sure Martin would've appreciated a donation Razz

AFAIK, Island 4x4 has the best prices: £185+vat on the Dunlops.

Thanks for the quick reply Steve.

Will let you all know how it goes as todays lunchbreak I saw no rising (nor did I need to raise the suspension due to public holiday i.e. clear roads no shortcuts needed). Pretty sure (especially with my luck) they will fail soon so better be prepared !!

Does anyone know why they all sell the entire front strut and not just the airbag itself ?? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
