Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0w/40 In Td6 ?

Is anyone running Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0w/40 in a Td6 ?

I'm currently running Halfrauds own brand fully synthetic oil, but the Mobil 1 is on offer, and currently cheaper than ebay. It's £39.99 for 5 litres....

............thinking of getting some for the annual change..........

Opie are offering Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Engine Oil at £30 for 5 litres

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-805-mobil-supe...5w-40.aspx

(Not connected with Opie, but site sponsor and worth a look, they say they will price match too) .

Cheers Mr 90...........

Their post about the sale was what started me looking, but I can't find any Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel listed on their site.

How similar is the Super 3000 I wonder........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I was desperate not to get too in depth with oils, but I'm now struggling to find an oil that meets the ACEA A1/B1 spec.

Most are A3/B3 and could be too thick for bearings etc, according to an internet search.......

May have to go back to the drawing board........

I just assumed A3 replaced A1...........

This is A1/B1 - seems a Ford Formula of the Mobil oil.........

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...65581#tab2

Now I'm just confused.......

The Mobil site says its A5/B5...........

According to the wiki the 3 standard for the td6.
I use 5/40 as the underbonnet temps can get quite high in summer I'd rather play safe but the next sump drain that will do the td6 to march will maybe be a 0/30 for easier winter starts and some 2so in the tank as well to help that but more with startup noise. Anything to help cold cranking will be good news for your engine, starter and battery Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

@ mjdronfield

Use the oil spec finder on the Opie site. In a roundabout way it will bring you back to the Mobil 3000 X1 and some other oils suitable for the TD6.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder/c...der-2.aspx

I am running it now, and have another batch in the wings waiting for an oil change Smile .

Not sure where you got the oil spec from, take a look at RAVE:-

Engine oil - Td6
Use either 5W/30, 5W/40, 5W/50 or 10W/40 oil,
meeting specifications ACEA - A3/B3; and having a
viscosity band recommended for the temperature
range of your locality.

A1 & B1 are not suitable for all engines - should ONLY be used in engines specifying this fuel efficient grade. Refer to the manufacturer handbook of contact your local dealer if you're not sure.

If you Google "car oil bible" this will also give you some very useful guidance........

I have a TD6 now with 106K on the clock, been using Unipart 5w40 fully synthetic for years changed every 6-7K.......my local Unipart shop does 5L for £22........it meets or exceeds API SM/CF ACEA A3/B3/B4 BMW and Porsche specifications and is actually made by Fuchs which is fine if not very good so my advice is don’t get hung up on the make or label on the outside check the spec, ...it’s like buying a Panasonic TV, just because it has Panasonic on the outside doesn’t necessarily mean its all Panasonic on the inside .......you may be paying for the label..........

Many thanks all.

I got my oil spec from the Owners Handbookl (2002 2nd Edition) bit on the RAVE I have.

Just had a look in the manual that came with the car, and it does indeed say A3/B3, as stated in the post above, ........so I am a happy man again........

Cheers all.

The cheapest I can get the Mobil Super 3000 X1 for is £30, after discount codes.

The cheapest I can get Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel is £39.99, so whats the difference ? and don't say £10 !! Laughing

Do we get any free delivery with Opie being a sponsor ?

Yeh, I realised the different temp ranges, just looks the same other than that.

I used Mobil 1 in my 735i and XR4x4 and was very happy, but that was a many years ago.

Think it'll be the 3000 X1 then.....as tested by Joe90........
