What exactly is your 5HP24 doing that it shouldn't be doing (or not doing that it should be)?

If it does not require any diag kit then quite probably can remove myself.

All of those issues sound lock-up clutch related. The LUC is preloaded ‘on’ by these tangential springs

Yes I agree with Rob, a real asset to us lesser beings, just a shame you don't do the TD6 box |

Thanks Phil. Are any special tools required for removal of the box or TC? I have RAVE. I have a lot of tools - so I guess I might be ok. Thanks again! Range Rover Vogue 4.4 (2003) |

hi there im new to this site and have been reading through your posts and it seems like your the man I need to talk to im not to sure how it works so hopefully am posting in the right place. Here goes ibought my rr 4.4 v8 recently and it vibrates when I get to 25 mph 1500 rpm [ cattlegrid effect ] it only happens at low throtle in third gear but disappears after 40 mph and doesn't happen in manual/sport ive read a lot of these threads and this sounds like torque converter failure ! all my gear changes are fine so im hoping ive caught this problem early also there is no judder whenim in manual/sport my car has down 125000 miles and I don't think the box has ever been touched before , could anyone tell me the process of how to pinpoint the exact problem pls or any other relevant info would be much appreciated thanks. 2003 range rover se autobiography 4.4 v8 |

You need to watch your rev counter needle closely while it’s making the cattle grid noise to see if it moves up and down (only by 100 rpm or so) in sympathy with the noise. If it does, you have a lock-up clutch problem with your torque converter and it needs to be replaced.

hi and thanks for the reply ,yeah it seems like when the vibrating starts the needle stays still for a second or 2 then jumps up a bit but only by about 100rpm like you said. Would you say I need a my converter recond ? and also someone has suggested just getting the whole gearbox done but thatll be pricey so if I can get away with it id rather not what do you think, thanks |
