Aux Heating on Menu

In order for the FBH to come on using the timer function, do you have Aux Heating as an option on the screen as well as Aux Ventilation? As I only have the latter............

I don't have a remote, or the Aux Heating option, so that would leave me a bit scuppered then.

Is there any way of "getting it back on the menu" ?

I upgraded to Mk4 Nav, and wondered whether that may have done it, but as you have that also, I'm guessing not......

Didn't think it worked right last year when I gave it a go.

Some diagnostic tools can re-enable the Aux heating selection on the menu. .

For the remote to work, you will almost always have the park heat function in the menu (I am not 100% sure what the exact wording is in English as mine is in German Embarassed - is it 'aux heat'?) not just auxiliary ventilation. Are you sure you 'had it'? Once activated it remains in the menu until de-activated - even if you physically remove the FBH. You would have had to have someone make the sw changes with an appropriate diagnostic system for it to disappear. While it is possible to activate the park heat function so that it works only via remote and does not appear in the display, it is not easy to do and it is highly unlikely that you had this functioning on your vehicle.

The MKIV nav is on a different bus and has next to nothing to do with the aux heat function other than displaying on the same screen.

As Joe said, it can be activated with an appropriate diagnostic system. AFAIK, the complete list of diagnostic systems with which it is possible to do this is:
- Our IIDTool <£300 purchase price
- Blackbox MSV ~£1000
- OEM Land Rover T4 £££...

Once activated, you can add the remote receiver and the remote function will work as well.

Can't recall ever having it, but without putting the Mk3 nav back in, can't be sure. Assume its stored somewhere in there as to whats what ?

The Mark 4 nav came from an X5 and then to an M5 then to me, so it could have been deactivated.

I appreciate the Nav doesn't do anything with it, but is that not what drives the screen display ?

I have RSW All Comms and Navcoder, so knowing my luck, they won't be any use to me here........

Need to perhaps find a friendly garage with diagnostic tools........

Thanks

tbh mark by the time you find a garage and make the time to go there , you might as well buy an IIDTool which will be more beneficial in the long run and you can do so much more with it.. ... - .- -.

Mmmm

So just so I'm understanding it correctly, Aux Ventilation and Aux Heating should appear on the main menu screen, as seperate items, as oppose to a heating option being available AFTER you have selected Aux Ventilation ?

Has anyone got a pic of their meny options where it is ?

Thanks

The manual shows the display as Aux Heat / Vent if you can access it but mine only shows Aux Ventilation also.

My screen isn't much like the manual, as I have the BMW Mk4 Nav.

I also have "Emergency" in red which I can select.

Car must do a "Team America Panic Hand Signal" or something when thats pressed......... Shocked

Who knows........... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Hi Mark,
No the Nav does not drive the display on the screen - disconnect the nav sometime and you'll see. It changes the look of the screen, but basically the screen is a stand alone unit. Many systems on the iBus show up on the screen when they have been added: the screen listens for identifiers on the bus and if, for instance, a TV module has been added it will appear in the menu automagically. Unfortunately this is not so for the park heat function.

All diesels have the FBH as an auxiliary heater to aid in cabin heating while the engine is running - but very few had park heat ordered. If you don't remember it you will likely never have had it.

This is why I gave you a list in the post above: AllComms is not included and - unless KiwiJochen, the Navcoder developer, changed a lot on his program - neither is Navcoder.

If you are hell bent on getting park heat w/o paying anything and have time to blow playing with PCs and searching the internet (and have no scruples about DLing and running illegal SW), search for NCS Expert. That can do it as well.

Ah right. I knew the screen changed when I changed the nav, so just figured it was the brains as it were.

Thanks for the info, makes more sense now.

I thought they'd all have Park Heat as the heater is fitted. Maybe not then.

You can rely on me to try and activate something thats not there !!

Will make this a "backburner investigation" now Smile

Thanks
