should I scratch it?

Due to a slight altercation on the motorway (a transit tried to embed itself in the back of my car at 70mph) - I am in the market for a new 4 x 4.

The previous car was a 2005 X5 diesel which served me well, but before I go and spend my insurance money replacing the X5 with another one I'm just checking I shouldn't be scratching an itch regarding a diesel FFRR which I've always admired.

Im looking around a 2005-2006 TD6 with FSH and with circa 80,000 miles and I will get a full warranty with it.

I only do about 6-7k miles a year shifting the family about and only intend to keep it a couple of yerars.

I have read this forum for a while and I like its honesty (about the good and bad), so should I follow the buying advice and take the plunge or do you think I'll regret it after the X5?

Cheers

Think it depends on how well you rate the X5's , personally i like the exterior design of the X5 and the roadholding and drive of the car but when you are in an X5 it's as drab and as boring as F Censored k interior wise its just pish ….

You don't get the feel good factor sitting in it , whereas in the FF you get a feeling of "Yep this'll do me" ….

Try and get one out on a test drive and compare the good and the bad against the X5 … Thumbs Up ====================================

I suppose my main concern is spending time on this forum you read about warts and all.

I dont have any concerns about the reduced mpg, but is it gonna really cost me a fortune to run - if looked after are they reliable enough?

I've had both. The X5 is a very good drive, just like a normal saloon, looks like a saloon, feels the same inside as any other BMW. Reliable, safe but just very little character or imagination.

In the FF you know you are in something special Smile Current MY2020

I have to agree even top of the range BMWs like the 7 series are filled with technology, lots of leather, but they lack any kind of soul or character.
There's never any sense of occasion when you're driving one.

X5 is equivalent to a Sport, a proper Range Rover is in Bentley territory - especially the later ones.

It's funny, I've been thinking about the perception people have about certain cars in varying situations.
As an example. You're driving up the drive to say, Gleneagles hotel. I often wonder what the doorman thinks about when he sees an X5 compared to an FFRR heading towards him........ Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Bienbr: forums are great places for help and info BUT remember there mainly here because peoe are looking for answers. Very few on here are here because there car is great and just enjoy the looney's. I have a few friends with X5's and they like them, but parked next to the FFRR I personally don't they come close in size and stature! Both very good cars and neither will disappoint. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
