Bit of a Dilemma

At the moment as most know i have an 05 /06 Mdl FFRR 4.2 SC owned from new , which i have to say runs perfect and i have not had any major problems with it , no leaks , no battery issue's , no electrical faults , it starts first time , everything on it works , serviced every year by LR dealership , any repairs requiring attention have been dealt by same dealership , it is now approaching the 40k mile mark.

My dilemma.......

Would you trade it in and pay an extra £42k on top for a 2010 model .......... Confused Confused Confused

No Whistle

I would wait a year and then grab a used 2010 bargain.

TDV8 or a new SC?

If its for a TDV8 wait, because there's a likely chance that a new engine will come out end of this year.

It it's for a SC and you can pay it, well... go for it...

Mick, having got to 'know' you a bit I'd say you were a bit like me, you get an idea and run with it really quickly, especially when it comes to changing your car.

I know that you've been bored with yours and gone through the chrome stage etc and gone back to normal-ish. Chances are, even with a new one, you'll get bored quickly fo that.

As said above, if you have the money and its purely an emotional decision then why not, life IS for living. Afterall, the wife has just had a new XF yes? If money is a serious consideration though and you want to make sure you don;t make a duff decision, (or just don't want to lose £40k really quickly) plus you're mainly happy with your SC (which is a beautiful car to drive and own) then maybe wait. Wait till some second hand ones are out there and any teething issues are sorted out.

Having said that, there is something to be said for treating yourself to a nice shiny toy. I love the fact I got the TDV8, despite niggles at the beginning, it's on a different level to the TD6. Discovery 4 HSE

Mick

Your going to change anyway, so why not?

But as Adam said I'd get an used / ex demo 1, unless you want all the toys.

Can have your black bonnet grill? I can send you my spare grey 1 1st Whistle

I was in the same position as my 2007 SC was the best / most reliable of three so far. As the 2010 models have been on the road for seven months now I thought they should have got over the normal teething problems (fingers crossed!). Collected my new car last Tuesday and am very pleased with it. Be careful not to get ripped off by the dealers though, I easily sold my car on Ebay for £8,500 more than the local supplying dealer offered.

No. IMHO the 2010 RR is way over the top and too far departed from the original design philosophy. I won't be buying one anyway. Sad Still mourning the passing of my beloved P38. That was LR's finest hour for me.
