Poor quality 20 inch rims

I recently bought spare 20 inch tyres complete with rims from a well advertised supplier in the uk, the cooper Xeon ltz tyres are excellent compared to the stock range rover tyre. However after a recent 1000 km trip on bad gravel roads one front wheel developed a slow loss of pressure. On inspection the rim had 3 fractures in it. I did not hit any major obstacles though the road was bad and rocky in places. Has anyone experienced rim failures with non genuine 20 inch rims, they are stamped with the range rover logo and visually identical to the genuine rims. Definitely worth checking your rims after use on bad road surfaces.

Would have thought 20s are not suited for off road use...? You'd want to go down to 18's really...? Graham

Replica Rims are well known to crack easily I am afraid....

Always buy Factory for a heavy Range Rover either New or Used Thumbs Up

Seen it many times.

Genuine wheels tend to bend/buckle, whereas the replica rims tend to crack.

I know 18 inch wheels would be far better for off road use but it's not an option with the current FF. I would have hoped that there would have been better quality control on something as fundamental as a rim but evidently not. Based on my experience I certainly would not buy another rim from Silverline.

non genuine rims will not be up to the spec of genuine landrover wheels...we always recommend LR rims on the forum, basically because the fullfat is such a heavy beast you cant rely on aftermarket rims... ... - .- -.

You can go offroad with OE 20" alloys but I'd not want to do it with aftermarket ones. Discovery 4 HSE

Shouldn't they be 255/55-20?

read the first post and it refers to non genuine wheels, hence that size.....you are of course correct in saying that they should be 255/50/20 but thats on genuine 20" wheels. ... - .- -.
