trains have to stop if the water is up to rail hight or the water is moving.This is because the water can remove ballest making the track unsafe. |

As water also conducts electricity it also plays havoc with the track circuits / signals ![]() Same issue when it rained after a salt train had been on a trip |

Bah, i caught a train from doncaster to derby in the bad winter a few years back and it was ploughing through the snow without issue and just slowed right down at each junction and radio'd to check it was safe to proceed |
