ALTERNATIVE TO PIANO BLACK?

Hi gang

Like lots of you here I would like to upgrade from the wood finish to piano Black, getting it properly done in a reputable bodyshop.

However, I feel this has been seen and seen and seen again. Does anyone have a great idea as far as an alternative please?

My FF is Java with Sand interior, Vogue, and I reckon the Piano doesnt work so good with the Sand.

I considered getting Java instead of Piano but am not sure of the sparkling metallic effect inside the FF

Note I have a Piano black steering wheel and gear know ready to be fitted when i do the interior revamp.

I look forward to read your sugestion, ideally with photos. Thumbs Up

PS: Louis Vitton fabric covering or carbon fiber are not options, however I did also consider getting all the wood covered in very thin leather... Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Metallic black looks awesome on interiors - subtly different and worth considering.

You could choose a shade with as much or as little fleck 'pop' as you like. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Hopefully more helpful, have you considered "dipping" or do you want a flat colour?

Personally not much works better than "cherry" wood with Sand. .

Hi,

I have been fooling around with a few cans of plasti Dip, great stuff, really.

I considered « dipping » the wood bits in black PD, but it then downgrades the Rangie.

I should maybe get one of the Tan/Sand colours from the « Camo » range they offer to give it a try.

Alternatively I could DIP then spray-paint them, BUT it leaves a grainy finish that does not work in a Rangie.

Last thing could be to sand down the wood then spray them with a « smoked », deep clear-coat.

Or, again, wrap them in thin leather…

Ideas welcome, I am quite sure I am not the only one in the bandwagon Wink l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

IMO if I did mine I'd go for a Matt black. It would synch just nicely for me as there are no other reflective surfaces on the dash or door cards so it's just a good fit to me but that's just me ad I've not seen it done yet!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Hi, Plasti Dip will do that for you and you can take it off in seconds when you are tired or it, leaving the wood as it was, no need to sand it !

custom colour can be achieved too.

However, the goal is to upgrade the Rangie, not downgrade it, it you seen what I mean.
I.e., I have a Vogue, if I paint matt black/plastic colour the center console wood side trims, it turns into a HSE Rolling Eyes or if we'd paint all the wood bits in matt black, into a simple SE...

Yawn I know... Laughing l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I meant hydrographics or water transfer printing. There's a guy on youtube who does "camo" on his gun and toolbox, but the pros can do carbon fibre look or anything you want.

I like your idea of a thin leather though, in a contrasting or complementary colour to Sand, maybe a reddish mahogany with lots of grain? .

Door cards wood trim, not a problem, dashboard ends would require quite some work... l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
