Glovebox Opening Stop Strap ?

Does anyone know how the glovebox is supposed to stay open at the right angle on an early model ?

If I put anything in it, and I mean anything, when you open it, it drops down past where I'd expect it to stop, and pretty much empties everything into the passenger footwell.......

Its great for getting at the fuse box.

I assume there must be some clip or a check strap or something that I'm missing, or its not working right.....

Thanks

No straps involved.
I presume you have the two curved black plastic legs on the glove box.
It appears to me that the glovebox lid is held in position 1/2 way down by a spring loaded ball bearing on an indent on the left hand leg as you can over-ride this by pushing the lid right down.
Would be worth removing the glovebox completely, not too difficult, and having a look at the mechanism.
I would be interested to know what the rack moulded onto the underside of the right leg does if you do. Smile

Ah right.

There is a small amount of resistance where I'd imagine it should stop, but it doesn't take much to overcome it.

Will consult RAVE again.........
