Transmission message?
Hi all, I get this message come up from time to time, [usually first thing in the morning] when i am about to start up, "Transmission fault, traction reduced" the rangie doesn't seem to drive any different, are there any obvious things to look for, i haven't tried to select low range or HDC, So i don't know if these are affected [thought it best not too], would be great to get this sorted then that's all the niggle y little faults sorted!! [Till the next lot spring up lol]
any help/thoughts greatly appreciated!!

new battery needed?...low voltage , as in first thing in the morning could cause this error... ... - .- -.

I have a similar issue : bong, transmission fault, limited gear change available. Nothing seems to happen to the driving. Last night I opened up the box with the transmission ECUs. Disconnected the battery leads and liberally sprayed the plugs, fuses etc. with contact cleaner. Removed/disconnected all of them and put them back (did that a few times).

I noticed that on the two main fuses (40 and 50 Amps) the blades were covered in a light coating of rustorange. Removed it and put them back.

I also cleaned the battery poles and clamps just to be sure. Now my transmission fault doesn't happen daily, more like 2 to 3 times per week so no idea if it worked. I suggest that you do the same, also spray all the earthing points under the hood (I removed the major ones and cleaned them before putting them back).

As Stan said, battery is the other major issues in FFRRs (well not only FFRRs but a lot of cars these days).

In short low voltage (caused by battery, alternator or corrosion) is not what our electronics like and they start acting up.

I get Special programs off even though I have replaced battery it still happens about every 3 in 10 starts. Have a transmission fault only once due to low battery voltage.

Just had the rear diff actuator motor replaced on mine. Got the bong with the "Transmission fault traction reduced" fault on the way home from work the other day. It reappeared on each startup afterwards so I booked it into my local dealer. They read the faults and checked various other links in the system and found the diff lock actuator motor was faulty so it was replaced at a cost of 690EUR (about 580GBP) plus 2.5 hours labour (including fault finding, replacement and test drive).
