United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue
Ivory Leather

So my new Westminster was delivered on Friday,Baltic blue with Ivory leather only for my neighbour to pipe up about blue jeans and die transfer.

Any suggestions or product recommendations in keeping my new P & J looking mint?

Thanks in advance.

Martin

Either no jeans or seat covers are the best bet.

Sometimes they come up on ebay cheap enough other wise its a dealer jobby Sad

Sorry for the numpty question, wouldn't seat covers diminsh the benefits of climatic seats?

Which could mean no more jeans. When I was speccing the car I accepted that the light coloured interior would mean more effort in keeping the leather looking clean but this was outweighed by the look and perceived extra space this gave the cabin.

As they say, you pay your money and make your choice.... Very Happy

Gtechniq L1 is a leather sealant that might work.

Gtechniq say it's the only one capable of preventing dye transfer onto light-coloured seats.

I hope it's OK to post this link:

I've bought some, but haven't used it yet. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

They would indeed Smile

But do you really need to recirculate your farts around the cabin Wink

To be honest do you think youll use the option that much?? And do they not have heated elements in then?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If they're SE type seats, then the heating is by hot air and not an element.

I use the cooling option a lot, so a must have a sweaty erse! Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Why pay £80k for a car with posh seats that you cover up and never use Confused

Barrier creams like the one recommended definitely work. Had white leather and bright yellow in cars previously and creams always helped. You cannot avoid it. However you can reduce it. NEVER wear new unwashed jeans. Sit on a towel !!

I wear jeans all the time and have no problem with my Ivory seats.
Mind you my wagon is very basic 2003 TD6 HSE so maybe its not a problem with the old ones Laughing

In the three months I've had mine, never noticed any dye transfer from jeans to my Ivory leather? I do clean them regularly, never noticed blue dye on the cloths either.

I'm with Gazellio on this one. I'm always the first to peel the clear plastic covers off the screen on new phones etc If you've got it, fine look after it but why not use it as well Smile

Enjoy the new Westminster. Nice car. Lloyd Barnes

I have the white / aspen green leather and over the months it gets a bit dull so I just use leather creams to restore it back. As said earlier, not much point having great looking seats and covering them up. Mind you I have overcarpets and winter rubber mats and have left the rubber mats in the car for 5yrs now over the top of the overcarpets to protect them, so maybe I'm not one to comment!! Steve

Isn't this more of an issue if either the jeans or the leather are wet/damp ?

I looked at a few light interior cars when I bought mine, and only one had dye transfer for the full length of the outer side of the passenger seat, from the piping inwards, for about 2 odd inches. Looked like a gradient tint windscreen effect.

Initially I though it may be from the piping, as that was dark blue, but the dealer said it was from wet jeans........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
