Anyone got experience with making/using goodrich brake hose?

One of the MOT jobs to do is to sort out the rear brake pipes as they are apparently corroding where they run along the rear arms to the calipers.

Looking at them, its a combination of pipe, flex pipe, pipe, flex etc etc ... i.e. a bit of a dugs dinner. So I was considering making a goodrich hose that runs from the centre area of the car in a single run all the way to the caliper and just using a some clamps / whatever to hold the hose in place as needed. That way, the hose will flex happily with the rear suspension travel and reduce the joins considerably.

does anyone have experience of doing this sort of thing? V8 or else ...

Your main problem as I see it (and I have Goodridge hoses on my 110) is that one length of pipe means replacing nearly all the brake fluid should you have to replace a calliper as the Goodridge hoses cannot be clamped.

The dogs dinner at least allows some form of local isolation.

Also, shoukd a part need replaced that entails that section of brake pipe moved, a continuous section could impede that job somewhat. Si. <This is my name.

Just avoid. There has been problems in some where they chamfer on something or the braid breaks and you get bulges. Just stick to oe unless your racing it Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I've made them up for hydraulic clutch lines on the cobra before. Reasonably easy enough to do although they are eye wateringly expensive!!

I'd also say do it as per original specs. Get yourself some brake pipe and a flaring tool (£25 if you haven't got one), easy to use and the jobs done to OE specs. Just don't forget to thread the unions on before you press the flares! Rolling Eyes Laughing Lloyd Barnes
