The good old Trans Fail Safe Prog message

2003 TD6
Trans Fail Safe Prog message pops uo when I engage drive.
In auto mode it runs as it should do starting in low gear and running up to 5th and changes gear as required. It does have a slight judder when slowing to a stop.
If sport is selected I only get manual.
Cannot select low ratio but can select HDC, I know HDC is not a gearbox thing.
Putting fuse 37 in does nothing.
Big Cry Any ideas.

Regards low range are you trying to select in neutral ? As any other gear its inhibited i think also it might be worth checking the wireing going to the transfer box from underneith just make sure the big plug is on
If all ok has the centre consol been removed for any reason maybe the plugs on the switch has came loose onto no6 Range Rover

Popped round to my friendly gearbox rebuilder (well he rebuilt my gearbox and swmbos MiniCVT) and asked him about it. He plugged his plethora of test gear in to find no fault codes stored, are we surprised?
So his next move was to unplug the ABS module under the bonnet and the gearbox is back behaving properly. He then mentioned that in his experience the ABS units on BMWs fail often and as this is BMW based it might be the same.

He gave me the car back all working but next time I restarted it faulted again. So once home I unplugged the ABS and trans, all good. Plug it back in and for a brief while all good then fault. When I get it clear all functions work including low ratio which is good to know the transfer box is still ok.
Maybe its a fault from something rotating and not triggering the correct code. ABS sensors are not faulting.

I get no faults on my IID Gap Tool from ABS apart from the ones that occur due to being unplugged
