DL are just ruddy useless.

They reckon they can get good authorised repairs for £29p/h!!!

ive said im not using williams full stop. They said thats the only one they will authorise as they want to mitigate costs.

I said cost mitigation would have been approving the work last week when their engineer should have turned up but didnt. thats another £1500 down the drain already for them in hire charges.

They said they wont spend anymore. i said its simple, your already wasting the money by dragging it out and the accident management company aren't dragging their heels on it just waiting for DL to pull their finger out!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Looks like an empasse.

I'd be inclined to use their bodyshop - but check every step of the work - if it's not satisfactory in anyway, reject it when completed and get DL on the case to correct anything dodgy.

I assume DL is the other persons insurer that you are claiming off?

I'd go over it with a fine toothed comb before accepting it back for a starter. But I know what you're saying. Time to a bit of legal advice I reckon.

This isn't your insurer is it? It is the other parties? In which case your insurer or your AA membership, even your home insurance might give you some legal cover to get advice.

Good thinking Simes.

Think I'll give them a shout later as I finish at 4.

The only stuff I can find on quick searches on line is just general repairers quoting ABI and FSA saying that you can chose where it goes in most circumstances... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I guess the problem is that the cowboys are probably also ABI and FSA etc etc... Usually you just pay a joining fee and don't have to be any good at what you do...

You do not have to accept the repairer the third party's insurance company want to chose.
You can send the car where you want.

I have done (personally) previously and we do on company vehicles too.

Going to a cheap firm the insurance company like does not usually give you a good job.
It's cheap for a reason.
You are not obliged to send it to the cheapest.

You can send it to a main dealer if you want to.

Hi KP, you're of course well within your rights to ensure that the vehicle is repaired to an acceptable standard, but the idea that you they have to be quick because you've got a mega expensive car clocking up ridiculous hire fees through a rip off claims management company is just wrong. I think it's an extremely high risk policy.

You might get away with their stupid charges if things go smoothly, but you can't really afford to take any chances now with delay. If DL choose to contest the charges, then it's likely that a judge will find them unreasonable, so you'll be on the hook for the £1,500 per week. The more the charges clock up, the more likely DL are to contest them.

Not meaning to offend in any way, but I'd really hate to see you caught out in this way, hence sticking my neck out! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Story update!!!

Well only one will is being replaced unless the other cant be refurbished but so far it's now nearly all approved.. BUT....

It's going to take at least 2 weeks once they start stripping it to getting it back if all goes to plan!!
I did at this point make clear that I would be in a hire vehicle this whole time and that it would be nearly 4 weeks of hire they will be shelling out for and made clear my right off offer.

£9k + my salvage back as it was
Hire car and work at bodyshop so far paid for.

Fella said it was very reasonable offer and he would talk to the higher ups about it as the hire car charges would be £6k+ by then so will talk to the powers that be.

I stipulated that it would need to be a cat d as well not cat c Smile

Let's see what happens hey!!!

Good news is the drivetrain is straight and undamaged!!! Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Well the quote went down to £4.8k as they are going to attempt to repair the sill and see if it can be done to a good enough level. However they wanted to just replace 2 tyres. LR recommend all 4 are replaced so as not to put too much strain on the diffs from very different rolling radi' of each wheel so I may need to contribute to that as 4*goodyear wranglers wont be cheap but I'll only need to contribute to 2 really. That's pushing the quote back up. And if the panel pull doesn't work out its adding more to the initial £6.5k quote as that's more labour ontop of it again!!

After driving a bit today and another stint in court my neck is killing and I have a banging headache so back to the hosp and docs again!! Twice a month at the current visit rate has me knowin most of the nurse and doctors names nearly Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
