Cost of LR Dealer services on TDV8 to date.

Just reading a post on questions over cost of servicing so thought I would just list cost of all services to date whilst I have file out in case it is of help to others wishing to budget, get an idea etc.

First Service @ 12,000 miles Oil service and Check Alignment on Steering. £430.64
Second Service @ 23,634 miles Inspection 1 Service Check Alignment on Steering, change brake pads all round. £943.44
Third Service @ 34,872 miles Oil service and check / adjust alignment on steering. £502.72
Fourth Service @ 46,052 miles Inspection 2 Service change pads and discs on brakes all round. £1,533.07
Fifth Service @63,605 miles Oil service £ 350.00

So this one has
eaten a set of pads in 23,000 miles.
eaten a set of discs in 46,000 miles
Cost £3,758 in servicing over 63,600 miles.
Cost of servicing just under 6p per mile on this 07 TDV8. (This is with nothing left un-repaired.)
(Not included is a rear failed diff as I think this was just one of those things and not typical on these)
Rear diff fitted was £1,200 for interest. Couple of other things extra such as brake caliper needed freeing off and air suspension message which was due to mouth of compressor clogged with lint. etc. come to about £400 odd quid. Neither of which stopped the car working at any point.
(For any newbies) In relation to the steering needing alignment check a lot, this is due to the large amount of off roading it does across fields and down rutty muddy farm tracks. Not a characteristic of the cars in general.

Hope this is of some help to someone at some point, I do not have much to add technically wise so hopefully this will make up for that.

Shows how different driving styles and conditions can make a huge difference.

I put new pads and discs on mine 32,000 miles ago - checked them a couple of weeks ago, prior to MOT and the pads aren't even half-way yet.

Typical dealers charging a fortune for discs and pads. Very simple and quick job to do yourself. I've replaced all four corners on mine (heavy cars like the range will eat brakes) at a cost of no more than £230.

Only the rears where a little more complex to do but a post on here pointing you to "Bodsys Brake Bible" is a godsend! Lloyd Barnes
