United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver
Hi guys - newbie to all things FF

Hi Everyone - I recently joined FFRR and although I've been quiet up until now, I've been following the forum and enjoying the content.

I just wanted to share something with you and hope that this isn't too big a deal and completely burst the honeymoon period I find myself in with this amazing vehicle ('57 TDV8)

Anyway to cut to the chase - I purchased the vehicle about ten days ago and put a private reg number on it, The dealer sorted all of this and my V5 arrived today.

All looked great until I noticed that it said FORMER KEEPERS 3.......... Hmmm the garage told me and stated in the advert on A/T that it had 2 Former keepers?

Hmmmm so here's the thing, has this just been a minor oversight by the garage or should I go back screaming and shouting at them! Not one to shy from holding my hands up, if its my fault so be it, but the docs were with the dvla when I picked the vehicle up.

TBH I'm probably going to hold on to the vehicle for a 3-5 years and so I would like to throw it out to you guys to hear your thoughts.

Cheers for now

Jonny 1st TDV8

Welcome Jonny.

If you are happy with the vehicle and as you are planning to keep it for a few years then life is too short to be raising your blood pressure. Just enjoy the FFRR Thumbs Up

I guess there are a couple of questions to ask yourself before you think about going back to the garage.

Would you have bought the vehicle if you had known it had 3 former keepers rather than 2

What would be a satisfactory outcome if you did go back to the garage and challenge them? Is that outcome achievable? 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

If you've had the car a few days and this is your only concern then just pat yourself on the back and enjoy the car! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

The dealer probably looked at the V5 before you bought it and it would have said 2 previous owners, they forgot to add the "current" registered owner before they filled out your details as the new owner Rolling Eyes

But like others say if you are happy with the car then why bother, although a sarcastic comment at some point may just make you feel a bit better Wink

If the cars in good nick, and you're going to keep it for a while then it shouldn't be a problem. The best thing to do would be to jump in and do a 100+ mile journey non-stop (I've done 270 in one go before, but in France where the speed limit was higher). You'll find all the squeaks and niggles, but best of all you'll forgive them when you get out at the other end and realise your body hasn't even noticed you did the journey.

Welcome from another RR newbie! Smile

As far as I'm concerned, number of previous keepers doesn't make any difference when I buy a car, as long as it's not insanely high. Now you come to mention it, my RR came with a similar "buy X get 1 free" number of keepers as well - but then they also thought it'd missed a service and it hadn't, so it all evened out in the end!

You could always raise it with the dealer you bought it from and see if you can maybe get a few pounds off your next service or something as a gesture of goodwill, but personally I'd just chalk it up to "one of those things" and get on with enjoying the car.

If it makes you feel any better, I've had my RR for 3 months now (3 months yesterday, to be precise), and I'm still at the stage where I find myself wondering where I can go today, just for the fun of driving it. Smile
