2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I've owned Td6 FFRR (2003MY), TDv6 RRS (launch model SE), TDv8 RRS (2007MY HSE)and TDv8 FFRR (2010MY 3.6 Vogue)

1) The worst car was the BMW engined FFRR, no doubt about it it was slow and agricultural (maybe taxi like would be better!)

2) The nicest cruiser was the 2010MY Vogue 3.6 TDv8 but i) it had next to no brakes and ii) it was very rolly in corners, but it was otherwise impressively comfortable.

3)The best ALL ROUND Range Rover I have owned has to be the TDv8 RRS, it was relatively economical (average 30.3mpg over 3 years ownership) it was smooth and quiet and on it's trick suspension could go round corners upright. It was also pretty impressive off road. The only reason I ditched it was because it was 3 years old and I wanted another 3.6TDv8 but LR had discontinued it in the RRS by then.

If I could afford to change now I would go for a 4.4TDv8 Wetsiminster or low miles Vogue SE - or another Evoque. 2010 MY RRS is very nice but ................... there is a new one in 2014 just when I will be looking to change my current car.

BTW Mister Adam - something to take into account if you are on a limited budget - no Land Rover is cheap to run or maintain and they are best when properly looked after with regular servicing by people who know something about their complex systems. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I was so surprised and impressed by the supercharged, it went fast for a car let alone for a big heavy 4x4, I couldn't live with the single figure mpg though Laughing

A re-mapped TDV8 3.6 can give the SC a run for its money. I should know I had the RRS SC from new and now drive a 3.6 TDV8 with a remap. I don't drive like Miss Daisy and I am getting 26mpg. Discovery 4 HSE

Tim,

that's why the earlier TDV8s with the Brembo brakes are just SO good! Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE

At the moment road tax is £460, without going out to double check. I am sure that's what it was last time.

Servicing is about £500 for a standard routine annual service.

Although as always, shop around and make them beg.

Ahh so it's in the big high tax brand then, thats a bit of a bummer.

I don't do a great deal of miles and tend to not keep a car for longer than a year, iirc I have only done 7000ish miles in the past year, but it's nice to be aware of the costs should any work need doing. For instance, I bought my CLS and it'd just had a service, and it's still not due another for 6000 miles, it's ran perfectly and all I've had to do is put a new pair of rear tyres on it.

26mpg is pretty good going for a big car, especially one that's not exactly slow either Smile

Yip, a remapped 3.6 TDV8 FF is quite spectacular!

Hmmmm remap. Mine is a 3.6 and all this mention of remap and good stuff sounds exciting.

Where did you get the remap done and what's the cost?

I used Superchips bluefin, but a few on here have also used JE Engineering, but they're too far away for me to consider. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I had a very bad experience years ago with JE when they completely wrecked my 4.0 SE P38.

So never again.

How much in proper cash monies am I looking for a remap?

England 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

A local approved LPG installer and Land Rover specialist, who's opinion is held in high regard from a large customer base, advised me to stay clear of Supercharged RR's running on LPG. He said long term the 'valve seats' are too soft on this engine.
His standard of work I have seen on the V8 N/A engines is excellent. He uses a custom 'sandwich plate' on the inlet manifold with individual sequential injectors for each cylinder. Last time I visited there was 2-3 RR's for LPG installation and a waiting list. Not sure about more recently as LPG price quite high in comparison. My first LPG car, was great and LPG was £0.35 per litre... Very Happy
Had it, loved it!
