How did you manage to have that quality of picture as an avatar ?

I only ask, as when I joined I wanted to use a picture of my car for my avatar, but no matter what I did with the quality and resizing in Photoshop, it was always too big a file..........

The L405 is growing on me.........I quite like it.

Will go and have a see at the dealer when its out. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

@ JOKER - no I hadn't noticed Whistle Whistle

Just thought I'd do one of the full images (as opposed to "arty" crops), and post it rather than ramming it flashingly down everyones throats with every post I make Thumbs Up Wink .

Yep, same problem for me too.
Was wondering as well.
How did you get the pictures down to 15k?

Don't know about Photoshop - never used it. Conversion/reduction will all depend on the resolution of the original image.

I use Imagemajick a command line convertor (though you can get GUI's for it) on Linux but you can get a windows version too.

Simply run: convert input.jpg -resize 640x output.jpg

to get an image 640 wide by whatever height

Here is the original image from JLR at 960 x 600

Then reduced to 640 x 480

Then to 320 x 200

Then to 240 x 150

Then to 80 x 51 (with a border)

All the pictures should look to have the same quality on this page, but as you zoom into each picture you will see the degradation in quality, especially with the smaller ones. As you resize you get loss of colour/pixels/quality. Same as with an mp3 converted from a CD. .

I figured it out when looking at the JOKERs avatar (borrowed it from him Bow down ) and found out it was linkedin.
Rather than an upload of a small file you can also choose to link to a URL on the web with your avatar, either an animated or a still GIF that has the proper measurements but maybe not the file size. RR's that are part of my car timeline since I bought my first RR Classic in 1999:

They are just 4 pictures nicked from the Landrover website and put in sequence, and he just got a new flashy black avatar. RR's that are part of my car timeline since I bought my first RR Classic in 1999:
