The S-Class might have problems as all marques have their lemons. On the poz front, we use a great chauffeur/driver who does airport runs and such for us and, about 3 years ago, he upgraded from an E320 CDI to a 2008 S320 CDI. It's approaching 200k miles now, and its only unscheduled / unexpected work has been a gearbox fault which was sorted for less than £1k.

One of my previous cars was a 2003 S320 CDi. Lovely car, very comfortable, but got very bored of it, very quickly.

Agree with above post. Like riding a magic carpet, but as a driver's car, terrible. Boring, wafty, impossible to drive in a spirited fashion should the mood take you, and impossible in car parks. Overhangs a standard space by about 5 feet. Ridiculously long.
